2025/26 David Moyes

Fair enough, I was wrong to use the word emotional. I will leave it at agenda driven, as the post I was referring to was on the agenda driven side of things.

I am just more level headed, about football in general, than I used to be, that warped my wording into what I put. I was more or less over the game within half an hour, went for a walk on a beautiful day and all was good with the world.

But again, you don't judge a manager on 2 games a season. If it was the other way around and he had that record against every other team but had a great record against Liverpool, would you definitely be saying he should not be sacked, despite more than likely finishing just above the relegation zoine every season and/or more than likely eventually getting relegated. This is my point, lucky not to be sacked for one poor record against local rivals is not a constructive argument to be had.

We need to step back and look at his whole performance, if you still think he has been extremely poor then fair enough, I would disagree but at least the argument would be more logical, as to why he should or shouldn't be/have been sacked.
He should be judged and will be judged…no excuse and no hiding from it…

He couldn't beat a single match against the worst Liverpool side of the decade, a team that had been devastated by PSG. Last 15 minutes were the demonstration of impotence lack of ideas and non conduction.Enough said.

He’s had four games against a poor Liverpool team, we’ve been better in all four games yet have contrived to lose three of them and were a kick away from losing all four.

He just cannot get over the line.

Rosicky’s last kick equaliser at the emirates
Howard brining Kuyt down at Anfield when 2-1 up
Penalty shoot out loss to Fiorentina
Battering Liverpool in both games of 08/09 season and still losing both, one to a deflection off their only shot.
The Distin back pass, the Neville slip in the cup final after Osman’s miss
The way we always have half the team injured whenever it’s a big game

He’s either the unluckiest manager in the world or eventually you have to start to question does he bring some of this stuff on himself.

He cannot get over any sort of meaningful line at all. The only times I’ve seen him do it was the qualification for 4th in 04/05 (which was then botched the season after)
The FA cup victory over Liverpool in 09
And this season when we went and won away at a top ground (albeit vs a terrible United)

Every other time the question is asked to make the next step he finds a way not to make it

Literally won the league last season.

They were terrible in all 4 games, worst Liverpool side since Klopp picked them up. They won a piss poor league last season with Klopp’s team but got worse and worse as the season went on. By the time we were playing them they were on the way down.
I'm not sure that's an accurate representation to be fair, when we played them at Anfield last year they were on a 25 game unbeaten run in the league, we were hardly rocking up as favourites.

We were absolutely not favourites correct, but as that game unfolded it was honestly the most comfortable I’ve ever seen an Everton team at Anfield (and a pretty poor Everton team at that). We got behind numerous times, hit the post, and if we’d walked off at half time 2 up no one could have complained.

My issue is that when we are in decent form and they are in poor form. We don’t win. When they are in good form and we are in poor form, we don’t win. There is no pathway to winning these games under Moyes and every time we lose there’s always the cries of ‘well they have more money’ ‘the ref’ ‘bad luck’ etc. and in isolation they’re all correct but over a large sample there should be occasions when Everton win this fixture more than they are.

We don’t though, and we continue to find even more gut wrenching ways of losing them.
