2025/26 David Moyes

Royle's time here was infinitely more successful than anything Moyes has come up with.

As a manager we have a cup win and a series of derbies when we never tasted defeat.

I think you're missing the point here Dave...

Royle's legacy: Cup Win > Kept us up (bigger picture, general performance overall) > Beat Liverpool a few times.

They're spurious examples. City obviously dont have that recent record against United and the example falls on that simple matter. And City are winning stuff (my point was that we're not achieving and therefore there's no mitigating circumstances for the derby losses).

And Ilm not talking - as you well know - one or two derby reversals requiring a sacking; this is a 16 derby losing manager - it's an exceptional case and stands alone as a measure of suitability for a manager at a club like this.

Im afraid there's no route through to a finessing of the argument where Moyes' catastrophic derby record becomes understandable.

This is the immovable object you and others come crashing into.
Not trying to stir things but in the last 10 years City have won 9 league derbies and United 7.

It’s not either or. We can win derbies and finish well in the league and win trophies. In fact if we won more derbies we’d have a better chance at doing all those things.

If we get to an FA Cup semi final next season and it’s against that lot with a bottom half PL team waiting in the final, do you want Moyes or Glasner/someone else in charge of that game? Exactly.

There’s no point even going to Wembley in that situation if Moyesn s at the helm, every player, manager, and fan of both teams would know before a ball is kicked that Everton have a 0% chance of making the final.
