2025/26 David Moyes

Only people who've never seen Everton win trophies would hope for that.

You people are just happy about not being relegated.

Rightly so, Dave. You seem to be searching for the sporting equivalent of "just a few mill in the bank" but it'd end up never being enough in the end. The world is our pearl-less oyster ATM but just enjoy the tide.

I don’t know the details myself but I do know that some West Ham supporters criticised his lack of rotation. This Moyes quote is of concern if we do get Europe:

"If I am being honest, if I had my way I would have smaller squads anyway. I would rather have a smaller squad. I always have done. You can get more problems with a bigger squad. Having a smaller squad isn’t bad. But when you are playing, I think it will be 57 games this season, and maybe 60 last. We have had to take a big hit," Moyes admitted following a 5-2 thumping at the hands of Crystal Palace on Sunday - the fourth time his team conceded five or more goals in 23/24.

I think Moyes and small squads will favour us because he'll be forced to use all the players in the squad. Also we'll be able to target less players of higher quality rather than spread the funds across many signings.

We'll take a few beatings along the way but if we build each summer with 1 or 2 first 11 players and then some high potential youth we'll be coming in at a higher level than West Ham.

Hopefully the players develop and the squad rapidly improves season on season.

Certainly dont believe a RS in the Guardian who seems to hate Everton.

The key for us will be recruitment and that Guardian article alluded to Moyes being given further control - suicidal.

We need 4-6pts from the next 2 games and could just as easily have 0pts and begin dropping down the league.

….prepare to be distraught 😄

The salient part of that article is that Moyes will be given more say in transfers and it's the end of us signing younger players. He spent over £300 million on older players at West Ham and they are now in massive financial trouble with precious few assets to sell due to the age of the players. TFG need to be very careful not to make the same mistake that Moshiri made and try and compete without developing players, which would be folly.

Its by a journalist who has never once written an unbiased article in favour of Everton.

Most likely made up.

Roma have Gasparini who wanted to add experience last window.

They signed u23s.

If literally any other manager at any other club took them from relegation threatened, to clear safety, then onto European aspirations in the space of about 18 months, with largely the same squad, a new contract would be universally praised.

Feel like a lot of people have never gotten over some aspects of Moyes’ first spell. Bizarre for me, he’s not perfect at all but sincerely what more could be asked for? It’s a results business, he’s gotten tremendous results from what we have.
Lots of those people also allege allsorts about the owner of the club in his first spell. And if you take those accusations as truth, Moyes did remarkable job in his first spell.
Back to present, anyone wanting Moyes out of club now are footballing Morons.

If the owners and the manager are going in different directions that's not a great sign.

At the risk of going around in circles as its been covered so much, Moyes since leaving Everton has sunk two clubs due to spending fortunes on 'experienced' and subpar players more than finding quality.

The rumours last summer of the likes of McGinn, Tete, Ramsay, Soucek etc were quite frightening and of course we ended up with injury prone Rohl and players he's signed off on but seemingly doesnt want to play or develop until they hit a certain age.

Gasperini is 68 and Moyes is 63 in April.

They're not going to be doing this forever and probably arent on the SAF/Wenger route of developing players for the good of the club.

If we get champions league then we'll need to splash out on top quality that perhaps we couldnt get otherwise. Just need to target players e.g u27 so we protect their value and can have them a few seasons.

If we dont get into that competition then the focus should be on younger players with 1 u27 player signed as a starter.

So, TFG are offering Moyes a 5 year contract but only on the basis that he gives up his interest in signing Soucek.

Davy is said to be mulling it over
