2025/26 David Moyes

Like you I commend Moyes for this season but I have concerns about how he would juggle multiple competitions if made it to Europe since he has a clear aversion to regularly rotating players and trusting most younger players even though there are exceptions like Armstrong

I don’t know the details myself but I do know that some West Ham supporters criticised his lack of rotation. This Moyes quote is of concern if we do get Europe:

"If I am being honest, if I had my way I would have smaller squads anyway. I would rather have a smaller squad. I always have done. You can get more problems with a bigger squad. Having a smaller squad isn’t bad. But when you are playing, I think it will be 57 games this season, and maybe 60 last. We have had to take a big hit," Moyes admitted following a 5-2 thumping at the hands of Crystal Palace on Sunday - the fourth time his team conceded five or more goals in 23/24.

If literally any other manager at any other club took them from relegation threatened, to clear safety, then onto European aspirations in the space of about 18 months, with largely the same squad, a new contract would be universally praised.

Feel like a lot of people have never gotten over some aspects of Moyes’ first spell. Bizarre for me, he’s not perfect at all but sincerely what more could be asked for? It’s a results business, he’s gotten tremendous results from what we have.

But are they young, and/or progressive?

7 games to go and competing for champions league potentially. It's bizarre that some aren't happy indeed. The improvement is clear as day and he deserves a new contract and more time to build

He is doing a great job this season but the remaining games will determine how successful or otherwise it will be. It could be that we don’t end up top half & find we haven’t progressed or at the other extreme be in the Champions League .

I think the problem he has is that he’s done this 3 times before, first time around with us & twice at West Ham and progressed the teams to the level of challenging for the European places but not been able to progress any further (notwithstanding the Conference League).

He has also been subject to similar criticisms (square pegs, negative set ups/attitude, late subs, preference for older experienced players etc) whether you agree with them or not.

You can also argue whether he has been provided with the resources to develop the squad to progress further, he certainly wasn’t at Everton first time around but West Ham spent a lot 2nd time around without a lot to show for it. Again you could argue whether it was sufficient but Moyes himself admitted it hadn’t worked out as well as he had hoped.

You would have to agree that he has done a great job in the key areas since he came back but his history means that it is legitimate to question if he is the right manager to take us forwards.

Or, he has met objectives so far (year one, re-establish the club in the top half of the league etc). When he doesn't, he will be shown the door
Why would you hand another contract to someone who did that bare minimum when you have them for another 12 months anyway?

There's no rush. If he cant secure European football in this rubbish league in a season that's even more rubbish than the last few rubbish season's then that's not a manager I'd want to see get another 2/3 year contract.

Just to boil your piss hopefully he gets minimum 3 years

Like you were happy to finish 17th last season before your idol was sacked. You are a walking contradiction.
Get Southgate in 🤣

You have no answer to me because I've got you banged to rights: a supporter who's dumbed down to the extent you cant think any further than survival.

I'm glad I've seen Everton win stuff - a LOT of stuff - it inoculated me against conmen like Moyes who tell you you're lucky to be in the PL....the type of stuff that you fall for.

Lol.

You lost whatever credibility you had here with the Southgate shouts.
If you had any self respect you would have deleted your account after that.
A laughing stock.
