2025/26 David Moyes

Are people still judging our relative success based on a time when you could get Andy gray in on a free and win a league title, and win a European competition that no longer exists?

if you were to throw Moyes in a Time Machine he could win a league title in the 80s with Everton, or say United, Liverpool, villa, arsenal, Leeds etc

Completely different time

We should have high standards but got to judge on what is feasible for the era

You do know Garner was always going to be a top player dont you ?

The reason he has progressed so well this season is
1. No Dyche & 2.He is playing consistently with a long uninterupted run without the the 2 spells out with a back injury.
Always destined to be a very good player for whatever team he plays for , just ask the Utd fans.

You can't sit there and blame the manager for all things wrong and then not give him an ounce of credit when it comes to a players upturn in form.

A managers job is not just to put the players out there and tell them what to do and where to go. It is to support them mentally, dependent on the player and the players role. Under the wrong manager, a player can certainly not fulfil their potential.

Many players have been 'always' destined to be a top player. However, through mis-management and/or their own issues a lot don't make it to the point of England call ups/player of the year contenders.

Do you mean because of the ageing squad Moyes left?

That what you mean right?

Like at Sunderland and West Ham?

Right?
Moyes left a very strong squad that was peaking.

Sunderland was a disaster but Moyes left a good team, albeit with almost no depth, at West Ham. But that was because the senior management at the club had made it so there was a massive war chest for Steidten and Lopetegui to spend, built over years of high league finishes and long European campaigns.

West Ham gambled and frittered away that legacy as they felt they deserved better.

Not sure I agree with how simple you make winning titles in the 80s sound

Where have i not gave him an ounce of credit ?

Great to see & hear but obviously that is following on from the Joke that was here beforehand.
I'm convinced he would have reached the same level playing for the likes of Emry , Arteta , even Pep.

Super player now he's overcome his troublesome back injuries.
Good to see you accept Moyes and his team coach to the same level as Pep, Arteta (who admittedly often says he learned much from Moyes and was even assisted by Steve Round) and Emery.

Garner was a class player before Moyes walked in the door, just stuck under 2 awful managers..

Moyes let Garner be Garner, of course he's helped, but you don't teach natural ability..
Funny how guys like Rice, Baines, Jagielka, Lescott, Arnautovic all magically find their levels going up under Moyes. Being able to see and develop talent is a skill.
