2025/26 David Moyes

As you stated in an earlier post he'd have to alter his approach to rotation and implementing subs in how he operates this season to be successful on either fronts
If he does he would be okay. If he doesn't, it will likely not be good. The game has evolved and what worked in his first tenure isn't necessarily going to work in his second without a stellar transfer window or a really good rotatation. We will get slaughtered if we play tippy tappy possession footy without fullbacks and a very creative no. 10. Every team is built to counter that these days and only the top clubs get away with it.

Greatest manager ever?

Who said that mate?

May have exaggerated a little, but have seen suggestions on here that he should get a contract extension for as long as he wants & that he should be up for manager of the season if he gets 8th.

I think he has done great results & points wise although the football & setup is not to my taste. My concern is the lack of any discernible patterns or styles of play & his failure to develop the squad outside of his preferred eleven which was also an issue first time around so I would be surprised if that changes.

If there is the mooted £200m to spend in the summer there is going to be an issue as Moyes will want premiership experience which leads us down the Moshiri path we have just recovered from or we buy younger players to develop as per the stated strategy & Moyes doesn’t play them.

Fat Sam got us to 8th when we were 18th after 10 games in 2017/18.

There weren’t too many tears shed when he went but Moyes having us 8th makes him the greatest manager ever. 🤷‍♂️

allardyce did that with a side that finished 7th the year before and that had spent near 200mil in summer and jan

8th was the absolute minimum that side should have finished

completely different calibre of squads

My hope is Dibling toughens up and begins to assert himself maybe next season. You see it a lot with younger players. Not everyone develops at the same rate.
Mark my words. If Dibling and Aznou succeed next year the usual suspects will claim it is despite Moyes not because of him and will claim they should have played more this season. These people are demented. What normal person complains about the manager's substitutions in relation to a routine 2-0 home win. Cranks and virgins the lot of em.

Pienaar, Arteta, Lescott, Fellaini, Mirallas, Coleman, Cahill, Yobo?

When you look at Spurs, Forest and West Ham shaping up for a big relegation run in we must be thankful for Moyes. Can sit back and enjoy this one whilst debating whether we attack well enough and what European competition we might make.

Enjoy our improvement (if not some of our play) and trust the owners to make a change when they think right
