2025/26 David Moyes

If Moyes had the team playing more direct from the get go I think there would be less calls for his head at the end of the season. My worry with Moyes (and this is what a lot of managers do) is they will find a recipe for success and have a strong run at the end of the season and revert back to form next year. Rinse and repeat.

This is why I cannot in good faith recommend to keep him at the end apart from the recruitment worries. He cannot be in charge of building the team and he has to be significantly better with rotations or Europe will be a disaster.
We had a track record of success in Europe so not sure what your concern is.

Balancing the league and Europe. It has been a relegation threat for us and a lot of teams and Europe means very little unless you actually challenge and get to the end. Koeman struggled in the league and so did Bobby. Moyes struggled with West Ham. It is clearly a worry.

As you stated in an earlier post he'd have to alter his approach to rotation and implementing subs in how he operates this season to be successful on either fronts

Definitely planned, he knew what he was saying. A quiet 2wks ahead on here he had to throw something out to support the forum..
Ha ha, yes it was all getting a bit quiet.

In all seriousness, though, I do think he probably said it on purpose but I'm not sure what it means. Say what you like about Moyes (and I've said plenty) but he almost never says something off the cuff in press conferences. I'm not sure what that comment meant but I assume it was aimed at someone, maybe someone above him in the club hierarchy?

And not a justifiable one.
The new owners will decide who is the Manager of our club not this thread plus even on the Ale House forum DM has a thread by Chico which is just plain stupid imo ...
I'm not Moyes biggest fan but even I would have to admit that taking us from relegation candidates to qualification for Europe in one season is a staggering achievement.

In those circumstances I think it would be unbelievably difficult ( and unfair) to replace him unless a truly outstanding candidate long term admired by TFG wanted the job and they were prepared to back him with very substantial player investment.
