2025/26 David Moyes

I don't get this obsession that people have with we 'got lucky'. It's football. You sometimes have good luck and sometimes have bad luck.
Fair enough.

Put another way 9/10 times, I don't think we win or even draw those games.

And I can't think of too many examples when I've felt it's been the other way round.

I suppose you can argue that maybe it's managerial talent that got us through those games but I think being more realistic, we got a bit lucky.

Sorry. I wasn't having a go at you in particular. I have seen a number of posters saying that 'we got lucky' in certain games.

I didn't suggest anything such as 'managerial talent'. I just feel that luck works both ways.

I don't have the interest/time to look back at every game this season but as recently as Saturday we were unlucky to concede two deflected goals but lucky that Pope messed up McNeil's shot. If we go back to the first game of the season we were unlucky to lose to a penalty that would never have been given against Big Virge. Swings and roundabouts.

I'll be nonplussed if he reverts back to Keane tonight.

Ive got my suspicions they may be changes tonight due to the short turnaround.
Hopefully he'll play Patterson right back, O'Brien and Branthwaite centre back, maybe even McNeill left back, force them back and pin them in their own third and win by 3 or 4. Meanwhile back in the real world we'll play O'Brien right back, Mykolenko left back, Gueye in the middle, Armstrong out of position on the wing, KDH out of position at number 10 and then substitute Beto for Barry with ten minutes to go, and we'll draw 0-0.

It’s an interesting spin to try and paint the people that DON’T have an unhealthy, personal, bordering on stalker-like obsession with the current manager of Everton who’s doing a job that can at worst be described as adequate, as the ones that have the mental problems.
Au contraire mon frère, I’ve merely suggested that there’s a certain section on here who like to throw around suggestions of mental health issues at people who disagree with them. A wholly distasteful modus operandi imho.

I have simply pointed out this sub group must see themselves as amateur psychologists given their self appointed right to (miss) diagnose or attribute a serious condition to strangers on a football forum for simply having a contrasting opinion to themselves.

It’s actually a trait recognised in The Journal of Applied Football Neuroscience, however as you seem to be struggling to understand what I’m posting without sub-consciously projecting your own thoughts onto me, i doubt you would find it a worthwhile read.

People may or may not like him, some people think he should select different players, some think he should be more adventurous, but no one can seriously think that this season is worse than many previous seasons, can they?

Perhaps they should support the club and its chosen manager, still discussing and projecting their own ideas, but without the personal vilification of either the manager or those of a different opinion. Sorry, that’s probably like naively still believing in the tooth fairy.
