2025/26 David Moyes

It was the first FA cup tie at the new ground
Everton were comprehensively outplayed
We eventually put an untried kid on the wing (out of position, ofcourse)
He did really well so we never saw him again
We fluked our way to extratime then missed all our penalties.
I think it's reasonable to be fuming about that.
There's definitely fair complaints but loads were fuming that Sunderland were above us in the table and knocked us out.

Well they spent a lot more than us so they should be.

You think that a team's standings should automatically correspond with how much their net spend is? I thought Moyes could harness his eons of experience to prevail against all competition

No, I don't.

But plenty on here want to use net spend to justify their high expectations for Everton this season.

The same should apply to clubs spending more than us if you hold that viewpoint.

Is Moyes punching above his weight with this squad?

I think I would say no as I think we should have more points and we don't because of his team selections and his approach in the home games.

What's happened to Rohl after he was outstanding against Villa, hasn't kicked a ball since.

JOB been very very good at CB when the 2-3 times he's played there this season, soon as Keane is back he gets put in position that hinders us

Armstrong should be playing in the centre or not at all, we have 2 wingers in Dibling and George who are direct players, something we are lacking is players getting us up the pitch.

We have numerous players out of position every game its insane, and for me its completely unnecessary.
I don't think he's punching above his weight. I think 9th is about where this squad should be with what we managers to sign last year.

No he isn't. Quite the opposite. Moyes is hampering Everton's ability to do more that they currently are by playing with the handbrake on.

This is the best, most balanced, squad we've had in a decade. It's still got some big holes, but as the players showed earlier in the year; when given licence to play on the front foot, they are a force.

Instead we've reverted to 'try not to concede' football, persistent low block, 4x centre backs, players out of position (I can deal with O'Brien at right back, but Branthwaite at left back is a criminal waste...and don't get me started on Armstrong on the wing). It's Moyes reverting to type and it's understandably frustrating the piss out of anyone who can see how positive this bunch could be. Branthwaite, Ndiaye, Garner and KDH are the best players we've had in their respective positions since I don't know when. All hamstrung by where they're asked to play and how the team are being lined up.
I’ve said 12th to 9th but i do think 12th while an improvement on last season will be a massive disappointment and I think he will be down the road if that happens.

He’d be missing a big opportunity to get top 10 and maybe 9th which could get the last European spot, we’ve thrown so many points away at home I think the tough run we have going into the last 10 games. Plus the managers negativity will kill any hopes we had.

Also In American sports, the owners want good home form, happy home fans is vital, I don’t think they will be 2 impressed with what’s been going on at HD

What does 'balanced' mean in this case? Our full backs clearly aren't to the standard we should expect, and the strikers are fairly dismal. There are obvious flaws here.

Garner is head and shoulders above our other midfielders.

He's statistically ranked as the 2nd best in the PL in that role this season behind Elliot Anderson.

Why would anyone consider playing him at right back when it leaves such a chasm of control and creativity in our midfield?
I wish I knew mate 🤷‍♂️

Drives me crazy enough reading it, let alone having to see it..

I'd be fine with that.

While I disagree with others on how much the spending should have improved us I can absolutely agree that the minimum expectation is improving on last year's 12th place
The spending should definitely have improved us more. Of the players we spent decent fees on, only one of them is actually good. And Dibling Rohl and Aznou don't even play.

It's absolutely ridiculous that we spent so much money on players who don't play and don't make us better. All while ignoring the right back position for another year.

When it comes to transfers I firmly believe Moyes does have the final say so how is it that some some people still do not believe it when they are words out of his own mouth, I believe he has a lot more say than a lot of people think he does, that's one of the reasons I did not want him back amongst many other reasons, its all about him and not the club.
