We kept it going through the absolute horror of the past few years, so i think boring football delivering 8-12th is acceptable for another season or two
We kept it going with the promised land of new owners and the new stadium on the horizon to keep people's spirits up. Continuing along the same lines now is different; people had convinced themselves we just needed to stick it out for a couple of years before we could start enjoying ourselves again, if that proves not to be the case I think a lot of people will have had enough.

But maybe we have more control and create a little more with garner in midfield

We created more chances against United than when he was in midfield against Newcastle.
Its pissing those off who want to put the boot into the manager. Reality is we looked as competetive and balanced with him at right back than we did previously leaking goals for fun at home.
I doubt he wants to play him there. But he's currently the best right back we have.
Shouldnt even be a topic of discussion tbh. We should have decent enough fullbacks to start games.
Everton have been so weird with this position for to long.

He was central midfield when we let in 4 at home against Brentford and Newcastle.
The goal was not due to Garner at RB.
Where were Tim and Gana though ?

We got run riot against brentford, utd were pooh and were there for the taking.

We had no midfielder in there position on monday, that's why they scored.
That goal wouldn't happen if Garner was in the centre, he would hold and read that move.

Game intelligence..

The Athletic has had a couple of digs for the last two days i see….

Yesterday was “Everton need to look beyond brute force to end their winless run”
And today’s is “Branthwaite needs to play CB, It will be better for both him and Everton”

About time the press started to write something to acknowledge what we’ve all been watching and his inability to deviate from his natural instincts.

I’d imagine the owners are beginning to scratch their heads too.

Expensive young attacking players not being played.
Square pegs in round holes.
Very average performances over all (with some horror shows thrown in)
A stated target of Cups runs ending in ignominious failure.

If their barometer of success it to do marginally better than the last fella then they’ll be happy. If it’s to deliver on their stated aims, can anyone really say Moyes is succeeding?

Garner at RB could be really good if we played KDH and Armstrong ahead of maybe Tim in a midfield 3 to give us the passing and composure on the ball the Garner does. I thought Gana could give us that a bit but I don't think so anymore really.

Moving Garner to RB with a midfield two of Tim and Gana sacrifices too much on ball quality it seems
Do you really think Tim could take a pass off the defence on the turn.

He can make a great tackle, he can move forward quick. But he's like a kid in an egg race..
He doesn't have game awareness, especially not for a DM position.

Seeing as this is bizarrely exactly what we want from the player behind the striker, a swap between him and KDH makes sense.

His offensive output is horrendous, but at this point so is KDHs as he's wasted there too, so we don't really lose anything.

You can’t serve up this dross and finish 1 place ahead of last season having spent 130mil

I agree with the sentiment, but I don't agree with the logic of how you got there.

1 place above where Moyes got us last season would not be a big enough progression, in my opinion also. However, the cost of the squad is still around 12th-14th (I believe), so with that in mind 12th can be seen as a solid par, regardless of what Moyes achieved last year. Anything above this would be a sliding scale of under par.
