2025/26 David Moyes

I agree with the sentiment, but I don't agree with the logic of how you got there.

1 place above where Moyes got us last season would not be a big enough progression, in my opinion also. However, the cost of the squad is still around 12th-14th (I believe), so with that in mind 12th can be seen as a solid par, regardless of what Moyes achieved last year. Anything above this would be a sliding scale of under par.
But the other logic is you can’t discard all the young players you’ve bought and end up worse. Play all the youngsters the club have bought and have a plan of how to play moving forward. What’s the plan with Moyes ?? The set pieces the other day were a disgrace, he’s a dinasour full stop

Do you really think Tim could take a pass off the defence on the turn.

He can make a great tackle, he can move forward quick. But he's like a kid in an egg race..
He doesn't have game awareness, especially not for a DM position.
I'm not certain no but I think maybe. He's definitely hard to tackle when he has the ball at his feet. There's a good amount of decent DMs out there who are about as crap at passing, being balanced out by partners that are great at it. I know this sounds mad but genuinely players like Baleba, Scott, Magassa are similar.

It does sound mad but it's because they all have the awareness of what's happening around them, and Tim doesn't (yet?) - he gets caught out quite often and as a DM that leads directly to chances for the opposition.

Seeing as this is bizarrely exactly what we want from the player behind the striker, a swap between him and KDH makes sense.

His offensive output is horrendous, but at this point so is KDHs as he's wasted there too, so we don't really lose anything.
Tim can't pick a pass, he cant shoot.
He doesn't know his next decision.

Where were Tim and Gana though ?

We got run riot against brentford, utd were pooh and were there for the taking.

We had no midfielder in there position on monday, that's why they scored.
That goal wouldn't happen if Garner was in the centre, he would hold and read that move.

Game intelligence..
This is just such a reductive take, it's just shoehorning what you want to be the case in rather than looking at the actual facts. Why didn't Garner stop any of the goals that we conceded in all the other games if it's so obvious he would have stopped this one? That's not a criticism of Garner, no player can single handedly guarantee games going a certain way, it's ridiculous to suggest they can. This obsession people have with blaming certain players for absolutely everything that happens and ignoring the fact that the same things happen when they don't play is weird.

I think we will just have to Agree to disagree on this one mate, I would love Scott at us, he's quality.

But I don't see another level on Tim.
I don't think there is any more room in his locker.
Tim is an athlete, I don't see football intelligence..

Why is it shoehorning anything, I picked one incident, the incident that led to the goal.
We didn't have a single CM covering that position.

Thats not just random bad luck, it's because they aren't communicating.
Garner leads in the middle, he is always talking and telling people where to be.
Who done that on Monday..

3 Cms and not one of them thought about the gap.

Totally fair bud. I'm not hanging my hat on it that's for sure. I'm basing my thoughts basically entirely on that run of ~4 games he had in December where I really thought I suddenly saw another level unlocking for him and he looked genuinely class.

Fwiw I think he prooobably gets sold in the summer anyway.

All the metrics can be used to support good, bad or indifferent performance, ability and aspirations.

The top and bottom of it irrelevant of net spend, ability to scout good players and whether Moyes buys and brings "100's of millions into the Club" as has been suggested (and is highly over-stated in my humble opinion) is that the football served up is predictable, boring and out-dated.

There's no getting away from that. Personally, I want to watch entertaining football and I don't expect us to win anything at all trophy-wise in the next 5-10 years unless there's a huge re-set of the Premier League, it's financial restrictions and it's obvious bias. That boat has sailed. And, I don't think we can have entertaining football with David Moyes at the helm.

Because as has been pointed out to you numerous times, the same things have happened in games where he's been in midfield. What you're saying would have some merit if we consistently kept clean sheets and dominated the midfield every time he played in midfield but...we don't. We haven't won a home game for 3 months, nor have we kept a clean sheet. In most of those games Garner has been in midfield, so the evidence doesn't support the idea that we would have automatically kept a clean sheet just because he was in this game.
