2025/26 David Moyes

The best Fbs in the prem had strength.

Strength doesn't mean you're a beast.
Jordi Alba was a strong balanced Fb, just because he wasn't big doesn't change that.

Ashley cole
Kyle walker

2 fb's that could have walked into any team.

I'm not saying strength isn't an advantage I'm saying it's not the priority attribute in a full back or wide player in general

Kyle Walker was great because of his recovery pace and Ashley Cole was great because he was defensively sound with pace and being a brilliant one on one defender. Their strength wasn't something that immediately came to mind regarding their ability

No but he was sturdy enough, certainly stronger than Aznou is now.
Baines was criticised for being poor defensively and not getting close to the crosser of the ball (Digne another example of this) But Baines had great other attributes that we focused on instead. Sure Aznou isn't at Baines level but to not play him purely because he's not physically strong is incredibly narrow minded management ignoring how he can improve us attacking wise

Yeah, they both had the right mix.
Not massive, but enough to not get thrown off the ball, and like you say also carry perfect attributes to their game.

I'm not even saying Aznou is great or anything I'm just saying to not play him purely because he's not strong is very archaic management (Moyes did similar playing Lescott ahead of Baines when Baines first joined) Coupled with the fact he played Hibbert season on season despite being pretty useless as an attacking threat suggests to me Moyes attitude to the full back position isn't ideal for us if we want to move forward from an attacking perspective

The trope exists because there exists a section on here that goes missing from this thread when we win and gets energized and posts loads when we lose, this gives the impression that those posters are looking forward to us losing.

Simply the fact that these same people appear more excited to have an opportunity to criticize the manager and score points than the excitement and elation they display when we win a game of footy.

It comes across as it being far more important to these people that they are right about Moyes than how successful Everton is.
Tbf I think both parties are a little less vocal when (a) He sneaks a DVD earning 1-nil away or (b) we play anybody at home.:)

I seen a table before and it had us in 8th and I was like “when did this happen?” Felt like we’d dropped out when we lost 😂
I think it is because we are playing some top teams ahead and historically Davey doesnt really plan on getting anything from them:) ( knife to a gunfight kinda thing).

Like you I didn’t want him back. Not because of anything that happened last time, simply because managers going back almost never work out. Like you I acknowledge he has done a good job getting us away from the danger zone in double quick time.
Unlike you, the results and the points total do not balance out the awful, boring football we are having to endure every game at HDS. If he gets us playing more adventurously at home, I will be happy to see him see his current contract out. If he doesn't, I would want him gone at the end of the season to be honest. We have enough quality in our squad to put out a good team at HDS, he has to improve what we are watching, he simply has to.

Get him some full backs and a striker that doesn't fall over their feet trying to control a ball and I do believe he can and will improve the quality of the footy we are watching.

We did play some nice stuff in the Pienaar, Baines, Arteta, and Osman years.

The AFCON and now losing Grealish has massively disrupted the shape of the team from what was working well at the beginning of the season imo.
Honest question...what was a best home performance this year?
