2025/26 David Moyes

Yes and Koeman left 6th place Southampton to join 11th placed Everton

A lot of these mid table teams are going to hit a ceiling. Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Palace (lesser extent). Unless they somehow qualify for the champions league, their revenues are not going to allow them to fulfill their managers ambitions.

Unless they all suddenly build new stadiums. They’re stuck. Even if they did build a new stadium, you then get the uncomfortable questions like would these teams get 50 or 60k attendances?

The only route for these teams to compete is consistent player trading profits. Eventually though managers will get fed up doing more with less and will want to move on.

If Everton went in for Iraola, Hurzeler or Glasner in the summer I’d wager they’d jump at the chance straight away (not that I’d want some of them), because all of their summers looks like: sell your best players, invest some back in younger players, try and maintain where you finished this season.

We’d be offering a squad where the best players are under contract, there’s transfer money to spend, and we want to push on further than we have been. Oh and by the way instead of walking out at the Gtech or the Vitality you’re walking out at one of the best stadiums in the country.

We should be able to attract any manager outside of perhaps the very elite in the world.

The thing is we’ve seen this manger for 20yrs managing in the premier league. 12yrs at our club, if he was new to the premier league or still inexperienced and finding his feet then I think you’d get more patience, but I think there’s a lot of fans, who know that this is close to as good as it gets
I understand that we know he has his limits.

I accept that he won't be here forever, nor do I want him to be.

I am absolutely fine with letting him see out the contract as things stand. I don't see the problem of another year of top half and pushing for Europe. Anything less than that and he can go.

The results and the football isn't so bad that I would jump to making a change unless I know what the alternative is.

I said a few months ago, Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth will all get relegated in the next 10yrs maybe palace too. You can’t keep selling your best players, it will only take a couple of poor windows and managerial appointments and you’re in trouble.
Bournemouth has lost 4 of their best players this year, it’s like us loosing Pickford, Branthwaite and garner in
The summer and Ndiaye in January

Well hopefully I'll be shooting you down on here in a couple yrs for your shouts, as it will mean we have a new manager and they are trying to play some decent football :)

Getting decent results via % football for me personally is something I've already watched for a lot of the 10yrs with him and it's hard to hack more of it.

I get your general point. I was all up for giving Martinez and Silva time, and accepted Koeman should get it even if I didn't rate him. I've said before I optimistically believe we were primed to have a quiet patient period as a fanbase, but then we walked into the new era with Moyes at the helm and he brought that divide with him. I think we gained familiarity and some calm, but lost the chance at creating a momentum around the club to move on.

I am going to hold out hope that the next appointment will get the time that is needed to change things.
Yeah, the general point is that for all the talk about how much we don't like his footy we haven't had much patience when the results aren't good neither.

If we are sacking Moyes this summer regardless of where he finishes because we don't like his % footy then I would hope that whoever we bring in hits the ground running because Koeman and Silva only got 60 matches to try to implement the way they wanted to play and when the results went sour nobody was too bothered about the fact that it wasn't % footy.

It’s not just pace. And Moyes decided he wanted Grealish and Dibling, who both aren’t the quickest. Add Ndiaye and they all slow the game down. If Moyes wanted us to be counter attacking, why didn’t t he buy the players required
So you think Iraola would get this bunch springing from defence to attack? As for signings, just maybe Moyes doesn't have the final day. Doubt very much he'd have wanted Dibling at the price we paid and rarely start him.

A year in at Roma they got rid of the manager hired Mourinho, with a remit to get top 4 and champions league football. Moyes got us 13th and was then given 130mil, maybe they want top 10?? He’s on course at the moment, but a long way to go
I have it on good authority that is the plan here, for the 27/28 season. Can't say from where I got the info.

He wanted Dibling that’s a fact, it’s been pointed out a number of times that Moyes said in a press conference a few weeks ago that he has the final say did you miss that ?

The mad thing I don’t understand with Moyes, we’ve all watched him for 12yrs at Everton and probably seen bits at his other clubs
He plays a style, that’s defensive, cautious and he’s rarely managed a team that’s scored loads of goals or created chances , you could say it’s a bit of a low block and staying in shape style.

If that’s his style, then just play counter attacking football, why would you loan Grealish and buy Dibling. By all accounts he’s wants big full backs who’re more defensive, he plays a midfielder in the 10 roll, so why not go and buy a fast front 3, just makes no sense. In his last spell it took him 4 yrs to buy a fast forward and 10yrs to buy a fast winger in Mirallas.
Prior to that we had,
Osman, arteta,
Pienaar, McFadden, Kilbane. Donavon on loan had some pace. I just find it bizarre that you don’t buy players to fit your philosophy
