2025/26 David Moyes

Why buy players if you are unwilling to give them a decent run in the side ? How are they supposed to adapt if they are taken out at the nearest opportunity for players who, let’s face it, don’t exactly have a spotless performance record either.

A lot was built up in the run up to last summer, how important it was and so far , a fair amount of that money hasn’t been well spent .

We are again talking about another big summer for this year and it’s no wonder there is a lack of restraint in showing frustration from some fans because it just seems to be similar situations time and again. It creates pessimistic feelings and cynicism.

At home, When the onus is on us to take the game to teams we seem incapable of doing it or managing to sustain it for a large period of a game or even half. It maybe a brand new home and things to get used to but you have to give the fans things to be excited about whilst they are watching.

Playing away suits our manager because the onus is on the home team to make things happen and when it’s us we are found wanting most of the time.

Agree about buying players and not playing them.

I thought tonight we did take the game to them to be fair. It felt like we were largely on the front foot for most of the game.

Some big mistakes for the goals but you could see them getting on top and he had his subs ready but he seemed to be waiting for the 60min timer before making them. I think that’s why he looks so dejected after the game, because he knew he needed to change it, but left it too late. Illy has to stop the cross, it was lazy and Myko didn’t appear to even jump. Second one Pickford is in no man’s land, but two headers by them, when we’re meant to be good in the air! Myko again giving the ball away with a sloppy pass for the sending off as well (which seemed harsh to me). Chasing the game in the last few mins and giving soft free kicks away. We were the better team but silly decisions cost us. I’d be surprised to see Barry, George or even Armstrong start the next game, although it’s ages away so maybe things will change in training.

We were all thinking Aznou would be rubbish but he showed Moyes up. Very highly rated player.

Patterson gives us an actual right back.

Should be using both of these players at home.

We can put out good teams. For some inexplicable reason Moyes chooses to put the handbrake on.

Aznou isn’t strong enough to play full back in the Prem (as such, was a baffling signing), but I don’t understand why he hasn’t been given minutes on the wing.

I’ve got to be honest, I thought it was a poor game that we never had control of.
First half was pretty even. 2nd half we started well but the alarm bells were ringing to the extent even Moyes was readying a double change.

Wasn’t a game I felt we particularly deserved to win. (When they beat us 2-3 last season, it was an absolute robbery)

that rayan was very dangerous, could see why he was bringing armstrong on to give mykolenko more protection

but when it went to 1-1 there had to be a different move there, even if it was put kdh out there for 10 mins (or ndiaye who is very good defensively) to see if he could clamp down on the rayan threat but ensure we’re not losing our attacking threat in george

beto sub… maybe he’d had enough of barry and his missed chances, but betp is so so poor

Theres no logic to it. Garner himself said he played well and should now have more minutes (after the cup game).

Dropped out of sight with Dibling.

I could repeat but Iroegbunam, Alcaraz and Rohl all received the same treatment after good games.

Patterson being dropped is madness too.

I thought the first 10 minutes of the second half we looked really bright, other than that it was a pretty nothing performance. I was expecting a couple of subs at half time until we got the penalty out of nothing.

Fair point. I do think we had control of the game though and im not sure they even had a chance all game up to the point where they had that period starting with a penalty appeal

Definitely the most frustrating result of the season for me and there's been a few. Just feels like confirmation we're not going to be able to put any big run together to push on. Realistically it was always going to be like that but doesn't make it any less frustrating.

Joe “ I loved dyche and wanted him to take us into BMD” sticking for another average manager. Pretends to be shocked. Bill would be so proud

Very frustrated with the mentality of the team. Not always that bothered who he picks RB (that position should have Patto’s until he had a bad game, same as Rohl), but why are we sending out players with no intensity or aggression?

The players should be embarrassed the amount of pressure they applied with 10 men after doing sod all with 11.

Have to question the manager and his assistants as to why it takes conceding a goal or a half time bollocking to bring a bit of speed and intent to our play.

Are we sending them out saying “enjoy yourself lads.” Dogs of war my arse. We have been the least aggressive, slowest and most passive and disinterested team in the PL for years. Worse teams at least look they are arsed. Oo it’s a tough game away at Everton. No it’s not? Hasn’t been for ages.

Moyes is clear his aim for the club is Europe. And that was great to hear after being talked down for years. But has he actually told the players? Have they ever watched teams who are fighting for Europe play? Like they would do anything to win and get there.

A lot has changed in 12 months, but a lot is the same lethargic not arsed crap as has been in the club for decades. Multiple managers seem to not even see it. Every season there are teams above us without any players you’d want for our team.
