2025/26 David Moyes

I dont care about players sold that he hardly used. If ever used. The original argument being made was players were sold under him so he couldnt peform well. His main players were not sold from under him.
He never had a budget. That parts true.
It's a ridiculous point. All managers when they come in fancy some players and not others. The difference is that Dyche had to sell £153million worth of players and couldn't invest that money in buying the players he did want. This is basic stuff, the fact that you are arguing about it is bizarre. I couldn't stand Dyche as a manger, but you've also got to be fair and say he was dealt a very difficult hand if he had a negative net spend of £74 million.

It's an irrelevant point. The fact is that Dyche was operating under a massively different set of financial circumstances. To deny that is to deny reality.
I counted myself lucky to get to Goodison half a dozen games a season and a few away.

I think fans like me were grateful for what Dyche delivered. But the football was grim. imagine forking out for a family watching that week in/out and still getting behind the team.

No real winners, but I'm made up for the season ticket holders that we have a tilt at Europe now... If we go for it.

13 games
25 points

You're expecting basically 2pts a game.
No I was making the point that 1.31 ppg this season isn't as good as 1.63ppg that Moyes got last season and that after spending £100 million it was reasonable to expect the same points tally over a full season. I don't think we are getting 62 points this season from our current position but who knows?

I'm not disagreeing the football under Dyche was grim, i hated watching it. But the football this season hasn't been much better.

You understand opposing teams also spent money and got better, right?

He brought in O'Brian, Ndiaye, Alcaraz, Iroegbunam

He lost 1 first team player in Onana, a load of dead wood, end of contract players and brought in 4 first teamers

Yeah Thelwell did a decent job with recruitment but it still doesn't alter the fact that Dyche had a negative net spend of £74 million and clearly couldn't get the players that he wanted. Btw Dyche didn't bring in Alcaraz.

You understand that we haven't got better, right?

I mean we can't know that until the end of the season, but I think expecting 1.63ppg all season is a bit pie in the sky comparing to us doing it for just half a year last.

And also please don't say "we spent £100m" like that's an actual amount of money - in 2025 that's the equivalent of about 30p.
