2025/26 David Moyes

And as an Evertonian that's the very definition of mediocrity.

Moyes had his one and only chance here to become a special manager in 2009 when we faced Chelsea in that final and got ourselves in front. Other managers of second favourite teams in finals have managed to conjure up wins from those positions, but Moyes froze. Same as he froze in the SF v Liverpool when we went a goal up.

He's mediocrity personified for us. Just not good enough. And I think all those years he told us we were lucky to be a top flight club and compared us to a knife at a gunfight worked it's way into the DNA of the club to act against us winning anything.

His period here has undermined our identity. That - and his very obvious disgraceful insults about Everton when he left - is unforgivable if you're an Evertonian...or should be.
Just to reiterate, you insufferable bore, Moyes worked on approximately the 12th biggest budget (in terms of wages and transfer budgets) in the league during his time here yet averaged roughly a 7th/8th place finish.

Why on earth you or anyone thinks he *should* have won anything on that budget is still beyond me.

If he had achieved what he did last time around on a top 5 or 6 budget, I'd agree, but he consistently over-performed, quite the opposite of what you've suggested.

I'm a bit Schrödinger's Moyes this morning. Last three games we've been awful for an hour that seems to stem from the set up and selection. Then 20 minute periods after subs that we actually look like we have cohesion. Both actions that can be laid at the managers door.

While I can't bemoan the point return atm, I look at how lucky we've been to still be in the last 3 games come time for the subs and think that on another day we'd have been dead and buried by half time but for the missed chances by our opponents.

Have I been right to criticise the starting line ups over the last couple of games? Results would say no, the way those line ups have played before the subs were made would say yes.

Looking at some of the games we've got coming up, can I see us getting a genuine pumping if Moyes' set up does not improve? I dunno.
