2025/26 David Moyes

But Moyes lost us the tie in the first game, by playing for 0-0. And once it went to 1-0 he didn’t know what to do, go for an away goal or hold at 1-0, he basically did neither and it ended 2-0. And this fiorentina side went out to a bang average rangers team in the next round
No he didnt. He was playing to nick a goal on the counter. It was a really tough match against a really good team. And over the course of both ties we were unlucky

More worried about where are we now. Back to same non-winning formula for some reason

It's true some clubs spent a lot of money in a fit and got a brief moment in the sun like Boro and Pompey, but I don't think the choice is between grab a cup and get relegated or grab a Moyes and get no cup and stay up

Something different please

his argument is about other clubs

you know the ones that have now
fell of the earth

no that one wasn’t europe fa

we went out on pens in europe
after we battered them

your trying to make argument about other clubs winning and yet we’re are they

exactly
Who cares if we battered them, they battered us in the first leg, because Moyes the coward bottled it. I’m making an argument 😂 you can’t even get the facts correct. Who’s taking about the FA cup, this was about Europe. And like I’ve says Fiorentina weren’t even that good, Rangers beat them

No he set up for 0-0 and it back fired, to succeed in Europe you needed an away goal most of the time.
They weren’t that good as Rangers beat them. This was the Rangers team, I recognise about 4 names. I they had Davy weir who must have been nearly 40

They didn't go down because they won trophies though, just as we aren't still in the Premier League because we haven't. That actually goes against your argument because a lot of those teams were able to go out and win something despite being less established clubs.

I wonder if Villa fans moan as much as us about not winning trophies, their 'drought' is only one year shorter than ours.

Reading some of the stuff on here, 1. A lot of our younger fans are accepting of we are where we are. 2. There is a complete lack of wanting more, of demanding better, of actually wanting to win a trophy….
I guess almost forty years worth of mediocrity with the exception of 1995 will do that to some people. There's a generation of fans who've grown up reared on Kenwright's plucky little Everton guff and horseshit as well.

The glass ceiling thing is interesting IMO - is it a Moyes glass ceiling - or does the glass ceiling exist baked in, in football.

I mean the Champions League clubs can spend half a billion in a transfer window or a billion in a calendar year - is there a manager in the world who can come here and compensate for that and if there is how do you keep them away from those clubs.......
I think it was a Moyes glass ceiling against Wigan in that FA cup quarter final in 2013 mate. It was Millwall in the semi final as well if we won.

It then would've been Man City in the final and we were a bogey side for them back then. A huge opportunity missed that year i think.

Nothing to do with the players on the pitch!

Villa fans unlike us don't have to suffer and endure the misfortune of sharing a city with those rs tramps though.

I had a lovely afternoon getting progressively drunk and shouty-at-the-tv. Did wonders for my inner Everton Da.

No parade though.

I remember the final well, was a great day and moment when Saha scored.

This game was the point when Moyes gave up and just took the money and became a company man for Kenwright. Just a shame we never had Moshiri take over then.
