2025/26 David Moyes

I've always sat on the fence with Moyes but annoys me with his selections, Rohl does well at Villa then dropped for Gana, Patterson done OK and adds balance to back 4 , gets dropped even though we had to play a centre half at left back.
Moyes is never going to change. He is who he is. 4 centre halves against Brighton is unacceptable.

In the Summer we both move on. We need a manager who will play and develop youngsters. He will always go for experience. That automatically puts a ceiling on where we can get too

Why is everyone wetting the bed about playing 4 CBs? Pep has done it loads over the years - Ake, Akanji, Stones, Guardiol etc. The list goes on! Arteta also does it too - Gabriel, Saliba, Timber, Calafiori, Hincape, White etc..

This isnt something new!! In fact these guys are first and foremost defenders. Playing them at FB means you are more solid defensively and in the case of Branthwaite and O Brien encourages ball playing skills and moving forward out of defence with the ball. Means they become even more progressive when they do revert to CB. Gives more threat from set pieces too and they arent slow either.

So I'll take a point away at Brighton ta very much. I'm more concerned with making sure out home form improves and I thought our 3-4-3 switch against Leeds showed the way forward in terms of a formation to win games consistently at HDS. We are doing more than ok given how tight the table is this season. In Moyes we trust

But we weren’t more solid defensively? They were all over us first half, didn’t they have like 10 shots?

I think it’s more how much respect we seemingly gave to a crap Brighton side playing it - there was just no need.

What stability or progress are we even supposed to see this season?

Spent over a hundred million pounds just to play worse football, kept picking washed-up veterans on expiring contracts, and never once bothered to prepare for the future.
Play worse football?

Than under Dyche, are you having an f'n laugh???

The fact that they were all over us will have been down to our midfield and forwards not getting a grip on the ball. Midfield is where games are won and lost. The defenders are there to repel attacks and play the ball to players who can start them. Its always a bonus if they can get forward too, but this Brighton team isnt crap! We squeaked past them at home when they were very dangerous and its a good return 4 points off of them this season.

They have beat City, Newcastle and Brentford at home and its only Villa who have really got a result at the Amex. And that was a mad game where they had to come from 2 down. We did absolutely fine yesterday in the scheme of things

We`ve gone away to a side sitting third in the PL and on a very good run of results at Villa Park, and we got a very well deserved 3 points with a very good performance. 2 weeks later we go to a team below us in the PL who are on a very poor run of form and the genius that is Moyes decides to change from the set up we had at Villa and gets a first half performance that most of us expected when we saw the team announced. He stumbled onto a line up at Forest and Villa because he had hardly more than 12 fit players to choose from, it worked so stick to what`s winning games.

All very true, but the number of games were we haven't turned up until half time is unacceptable.

We've won 2 out of the last 10 games.

The standard of football has been appalling for long periods of the season.

Home form is relegation level.

I get that people see 8th position atm and dont consider much more than that, but we've hit a huge slump and we're struggling to get out of it. Draws from games we really should be winning hansomely are killing us in that respect.
