2025/26 David Moyes

So just to clarify, were you expecting us to have no issues at this stage of the season? With a squad so desperately short of numbers and depth in several key areas, no proper full backs, and crap strikers? And over the last month, up to EIGHT first teamers and some of our best players all missing at the same time?

What was your prediction at the start of the season? I keep hearing that the league is bad, but from what I’ve observed it’s a lot stronger than it has been for a while. Teams like Brentford and even Man Utd are much improved from last season.
Of course not, afcon was always going to be a problem, as were injuries, but guess what, those affect every side. I think the manager has managed these issues rather poorly.

At the start of the season, realistically, I just wanted progression, would have loved a cup run in either competition (Doh!) and to keep away from the relegation battle, so in that regard I’m overjoyed aside from the cup debacles.

However, my expectations, wants and needs, like most fans, change over the season, and the league is bad - man united in the race for CL shows that - we should be doing even better from a league perspective.

Sorry for wanting more, sick of the we should be happy with mid table obscurity, we used to be better and bigger than that.

He should resign after that team selection today.

The only way Patterson should be on that pitch - if he absolutely has to be (which he doesn't) - was by having Dibling or Garner in front of him to basically play RB for him all game.

Dumb and Dumberer on that right flank today is a sackable offence IMO.

….i’m so glad this looked as stupid after the game as it did before. Definitely needs to read;

IMO anyone who wants Moyes sacked should put forward a credible option as an alternative. Look at the number of ‘modern’ or ‘progressive’ or ‘younger’ managers sacked over the last couple of seasons and the ones struggling now. Managers need time to establish a team and a culture at a club, nearly every Manager who has won the league or even a cup competition for years has had time in the role first (not counting Leicester under Ranieri as that was a freak incident!).

Right, so basically wherever we were at this stage of the season, your expectation would’ve shifted to the next thing. If we were sat 6th right now you’d be moaning that we haven’t taken advantage of the league being so poor because we could’ve been in a CL place and challenging for the title. That’s about as accurate a gauge on how warped our fanbase is as I could ever come up with.

Quite a bit of hyperbole there mick, but ok mate. I don’t think there’s anything warped about reassessing our performance, if we were really struggling and down near the relegation places, I’d be happy with just staying up again?!

If we were sat in 6th or higher, I’d be absolutely delighted, and looking at the fixtures and the state of the league, and the games that we’ve lost at home, I would think that would be par for the course. I’m thankful that those above us haven’t put up too much of a gap, and that Europe is still a (distant) possibility.

I certainly wouldn’t be moaning about anything if that was where we were tbh, that’s just stupid.

We all want more. Some of us can celebrate and be happy enough after a win to celebrate that small moment, for at least 24 hours.

I want Everton winning every trophy possible, every season. But, as a realistic football fan, it is just nice to gauge where we are at and positively look at the current situation. That has been more or less impossible for 4/5 seasons. We are now able to look at positives and this season has been full of them. There have been a lot of negatives as well, and we should deal with them as well. It is not healthy to continue to look at the negatives all the time, especially after a win.

Let us just have a day where we are all happy that we won, Tuesday can be back to being all negative and saying we should be 9th, 8th, 7th, etc. dependent on where we are in the league.
