2025/26 David Moyes

Yes, but how many are siginings by the clubs in our division? My point is our new signings are valued at more than the 130m we officially spent when you add the Grealish valuation. So to hold on to the 130m figure as evidence we were the 13th biggest spenders is disingenuous. In reality, we are about 11th if we take Grealish at 28m and 10th if we say 50m (which is what we were told City valued him at). So, setting 10th as a reasonable target or expectation when we are spending that and 5m a year on the joint-sixth highest paid manager in the league is not at all unreasonable.

You’re not setting 10th as the expectation by the looks of it though, as we’re currently 10th and you are furious and calling for the manager to be sacked?

I'm not calling for him to be sacked. I think he should finish out the season and then be commended for his work with a lovely retirement decanter.

I'm livid about the cups, mind.

Well, it was easier to get behind a man who had a couple of Champions Leagues to his name and went on to win another two Champions Leagues since he left us than the Comfy Cardigan, put it that way.
Ancelotti was a massive disappointment l, but maybe, at the same time proved how hard it is to be Everton manager. I, obviously don’t know, but I’d imagine he was given more gratitude after bad results.

I would think top 10 - even 10th - is a very reasonable expectation for the joint sixth-highest paid manager in the league who got to spend nearly 130 million in the summer and add an England international once valued at 100 million on top. I would have thought getting past the third round of both cups - or even one - wouldn't have been too much to ask for. I would think being in the shake-up for Europe by the last week of the season - even if we miss out - would not be too much to demand. Right now, Moyes is par for the course in the league and has failed miserably in the cups. With no distractions to worry about now, and no midweek cup games to stretch the squad, he has no more excuses.

His true believers must surely back a man of such talents to achieve these modest ambitions.
You really are a hard man to please..
Forget the manager for the day and enjoy the result..

Literally just said, 5.

It's great because we won, we're up to 10th, you're absolutely fuming AND you're getting your back door smashed to pieces with every post on the forum tonight.

Surprised you haven't logged off to lick your gaping wounds.

You literally called for him to be sacked mid-game at 1-0 up today.
That was taking the piss out of the discussion in the Glasner/successor thread. As you have probably surmised by now, much of what I post may or may not be serious.

My position on Moyes has always been that while I most certainly did not want him back, he has always been competent and did a sterling job last season. I would, however, have liked the club to have had an ambitious succession plan last summer. As they didn't, I expect him to stay on this season and hope they have an ambitious plan next summer. I fear he may stay longer and we'll still be having these discussions next year or the year after. I was wrong about the impact he had last year, so I am open to the possibility that he proves me wrong and wins us something eventually. I just don't believe in it. 12 years of experience tell me I'm right, but here's hoping I'm not because I suspect we're stuck with him or longer than I would wish...
