2025/26 David Moyes

I would think top 10 - even 10th - is a very reasonable expectation for the joint sixth-highest paid manager in the league who got to spend nearly 130 million in the summer and add an England international once valued at 100 million on top. I would have thought getting past the third round of both cups - or even one - wouldn't have been too much to ask for. I would think being in the shake-up for Europe by the last week of the season - even if we miss out - would not be too much to demand. Right now, Moyes is par for the course in the league and has failed miserably in the cups. With no distractions to worry about now, and no midweek cup games to stretch the squad, he has no more excuses.

His true believers must surely back a man of such talents to achieve these modest ambitions.
This is madness to me and utterly unreasonable as expectation levels go.

I can get on board with top 10, I think we need to be improving on last season so that feels like a reasonable target, but we started from a position of no real strength this season, needing lots of new players, having finished 13th last season and seeing 12 teams spend more money than us.

Saying we should be able to jump 6 places or so based on that feels like nonsense to me.

12 teams did not spend more than us last summer. As per Transfermarkt, we are 13th with a spend of STG 129.75m on the list ONLY if you cost Jack Grealish at no fee. Feel free to do that if it helps lower expectations.

Move up... 1 place, so 11 more teams.

Nearly half the league gets into Europe. Being 10th in May has us in the shake-up almost by default. Top half - 10th - is not an inflated expectation. We are there right now.

Very very good performance. Enjoyed watching Armstrong and Rohl get at them. Delighted for Rohl and Barry quietening down the fans that like to write off the new signings

Doesn't much change my opinion overall, but he certainly can do his chances of staying a lot of good with more of that kind of performance

I wouldn't be losing the head at the results in the bad games, it was the general play and management of the games that annoy me. Similarly whilst I'm delighted we got the win, a Villa equaliser or even two late goals wouldn't have changed my view on how the team was set up and went at it today. A bright day after a crappy couple of weeks.

Asking for 10th is fine. Demanding we are mathematically capable of qualifying for Europe on the final day isn't. Depending on what happens with other competitions, it could be only the top 5 in the league that get Europe.
