2025/26 David Moyes

This sounds absolutely great if you've got the players to execute it. Today, we didn't.

Our full backs are absolutely atrocious. The worst in the league. Pointless to ask them to overlap more.

We push up and play a high line then we're exposing Tarkowski and letting them smash us on the counter.

Finally, you're asking the manager to do all of this with a team of players that have never played together before and likely never will again.
You dont need talent to show for the ball of the CBs
Or to tell your FBs to position themselves higher up the pitch or run past the winger

They train together every single day they should know whats expected of them when they go into the first team.

Stop making excuses for poor performances, a one off yes but a run of them no, thats on the manager its his job.
That wasnt Sunderlands first team neither but at least they looked like they had been coached.

We looked like 11 strangers and im sorry but thats on the manager, weve sang his praises last season and for small parts of this season.

You think Moyes wanted Aznou and Dibling? Clearly something drastically wrong with how we’re managing signings at a club level. Again not completely on Moyes. Problem existed before him and would still exist tomorrow under a new manager
I think he's signed off on Rohl Barry and Dibling as you mentioned, along with the others brought in.

Absolutely zero chance a player will be signed without him having the final say

A good manager also doesn't give regular minutes to players who do nothing when they get chances.

What has Dibling done to deserve more playing time? He can't even out in a shift for the team
Dibling was garbage out there today, no arguments. However, we have lots of players who are consistently terrible who play every week, regardless.

I saw enough of Dibling at Southampton to know that he's a very talented lad. I've no idea why that hasn't been replicated here, maybe it's Dibling, maybe it's the coaches or maybe it's a bit of both. Whatever the reason, it's a manager's job to get the best out of his players and I would argue, strongly, that Moyes is not currently doing that.

When I see a player out there not competing and not battling then I blame the player 10 times out of 10.

It's what he's been doing for 20+ years, long ball, percentage football.

It's not much different to Dyche, Pulis etc.

The injuries, suspensions and AFCON are all factors but his ability to drain the confidence from squads is breathtaking.

From having 3 homes games in a week that could have put us 5th and in the next round of the cup to looking like the worst side in the league.

The recruitment looks disastrous and these players don't enjoy (or have the balls) to play in front of their own fans.

Next few weeks will be really rough. Good job we've got enough points to be safe this season.

We’ve got such a thin squad because as Angus Kinnear confirmed “he says no to 99% of the players that are offered to him”. He’s no better than Dyche when it comes to making excuses when we lose yet he sits there soaking up the praise when we win. Sick and tired of him.

Whilst hugely frustrated this week I still think the worst thing we could do is think about getting rid of moyes. Who would come in? Either another pragmatist or a 'progressive' - moyes is the best of the pragmatists and we are still far too brittle mentally as a club and squad to risk another progressive.

I think how he uses this essentially dead half a season will be telling for him though. Golden chance to get the likes of aznou and Armstrong some decent game time, and hopefully see an O'brien and Branthwaite CB partnership given time to develop ahead of next season.

Or will it be more of the same old safe PL experience first to grind out the season.
We clearly need someone who values front foot high press high intensity football. It's the modern game where that approach unsettles the opposition rather than Moyes handbrake style. Even though Iraola is having a sticky patch at Bournemouth we should move heaven and earth to bring him in now when his star is not at its brightest. Failing that even someone like McKenna at Ipswich

Moyes and Kinnear talk about the January window with a real smug arrogance. It’s like we’re City or Arsenal and don’t need too many changes whereas in reality we’ve got no effective full backs and the worst striking options in the league. They just gaslight fans by telling us we don’t really need to do any business until the summer.

But it practically was 11 strangers on the pitch. You replay that game with whoever you want in charge and you're going to get the same type of performance.

No acknowledgement of the fact we're down to the bare bones with kids on the bench and playing 120 minutes. Just an expectation that we should be winning what was actually a very difficult game.

I get where you're coming from but the back up players just haven't been good enough. Dibling has had opportunities but apart from a few decent touches against Forest he hasn't been up to it.

Who else would you have played more?
I'd have given the back ups more minutes earlier in the season when we were playing better, give them some encouragement, some confidence. They look terrified out there and no doubt Moyes will publicly slag then off again this afternoon. I don't see how isolating and denigrating them helps anything. Our best player today was Aznou, a lad who couldn't get a sniff at the first team, according to many on here that's how it should be but I can't make any sense of it.

Who decides the lineup of penalty takers?

I wouldn't put those two strikers in first, hardly got previous to go by. I would've put midfield or defence up first.

Pretty bl00dy obvious they're unable to score in 90 minutes.

Move on

I wouldn`t have put either of those strikers on the pitch to start with, but they`re all we`ve got at the moment.

Imagine the fall out behind the scenes, if he hadn`t picked them, it wouldn`t really have sent out a very positive message.
