2025/26 David Moyes

Whilst hugely frustrated this week I still think the worst thing we could do is think about getting rid of moyes. Who would come in? Either another pragmatist or a 'progressive' - moyes is the best of the pragmatists and we are still far too brittle mentally as a club and squad to risk another progressive.

I think how he uses this essentially dead half a season will be telling for him though. Golden chance to get the likes of aznou and Armstrong some decent game time, and hopefully see an O'brien and Branthwaite CB partnership given time to develop ahead of next season.

Or will it be more of the same old safe PL experience first to grind out the season.

Moyes is a yesterdays football manager. He can't work out how to play attacking football quickly and consistently in this era. He can't work out how to win the ball back in this non contact era. He has to next season to win a cup, so if we go out both cups next season then he needs to be told to resign.

Moyes could be here for next 20 years and he still wouldn't win a trophy

Its desire and belief isn't it?

We look devoid of it.

To be fair, this club are experts at zapping the life out of you.

Likes of Dibling looks like he has the world on his shoulders.
Dibling looks an absolute shadow of the player he was at Southampton.

People won't like me saying this but a consequence of playing essentially the same 11 at every possible opportunity, regardless of performances and results, means that when players that are outside of the chosen 11 have to play due to injuries and suspensions they are out of sorts, not truly match fit and lacking in confidence. A good manager makes full use of his squad throughout the season. I mean if you are a player that knows you're only ever going to play as a last resort you're not going to be chock full of confidence, are you?

A good manager also doesn't give regular minutes to players who do nothing when they get chances.

What has Dibling done to deserve more playing time? He can't even out in a shift for the team

We're going to have to play with an awful lot more cohesion and desire to get anything out of the Villa game and the way our current home form is I'm not even optimistic about playing newly promoted Leeds United after that. This side is absolutely drained of any confidence or verve. We look like a shadow of a team all the way across the pitch. Aznou was a breath of fresh air out there today, in contrast.
Villa will stuff us mate.

Bigger picture is that we’ve nearly been relegated multiple times over the past few years and now we’re comfortably mid table a few points behind European places. Despite having a honking squad and half of them unavailable.

Appreciate it’s not a pretty watch and the inconsistency is painful. But today wasn’t on him, his hands were tied
I respect what you're saying mate, but he failed to prepare his squad adequately for the predictable loss of two players during the ACON. He tied his own hands, including the Summer signings. The last few games gave us the easiest opportunity to push on and every one a complete disaster.

I get where you're coming from but the back up players just haven't been good enough. Dibling has had opportunities but apart from a few decent touches against Forest he hasn't been up to it.

Who else would you have played more?

He could have put Barry on for McNeill
He could have put Graham on for Beto late on
He could have rotated his squad better in previous games so we werent so stuck.
He could have made more than 1 change in the 90.
He could have changed some things at half time.
He could have asked his coaches to work on penos with them in training.
Thats all off the top of my head.
He's a dinosaur.
I've been of the frame of mind where he should be given till the summer but now I'm questioning that.
I know his hands are tied but even so, he should be doing a whole lot better at home
