2025/26 David Moyes

I don't fully fathom the season is over comments the table is still extremely tight and we're still only off the top spots by a couple of points , the last two matches have been disappointing but there's still a possibility we can finish in the top half especially with some of our more skilled players set to return. Moyes needs to become aware of his detrimental patterns such as favoring the same failing players and we could still be in contention for top half finish
We've just a perfect opportunity to be right in the mix, Brentford Wolves at home.
Completely ballsed it up, this league is crap and you only need 2 wins on the bounce and a draw and you go from relegation fodder to European hopefuls.

We have a manager that doesnt have great runs or really bad runs of form thats why we yo-yo week by week.
He is a safe pair of hands as in relegation but jesus christ he also very frustrating.

The summer is the time to change the manager for me.

Nah not having he should be sacked now.

I didn't want him back, don't want him long term but no chance on earth he should be sacked now. Cmon now.
This support is so reactionary.

They've all come out of the woodwork this week demanding heads.

They're going to be very disappointed.

He won't be going anywhere unless things get far worse.

I’m still Moyes-in, because he’s stable, and we need that after the last few years.

However he, the squad, and the club, have completely thrown away this season in the space of a couple of weeks.

The weak is as league as it’s ever looked and we just seem happy doing naff all despite this.
Ok Joey.

But seriously, what were people expecting when out of all the managers in the world they could have chosen to replace Dyche they picked David Moyes?

The writing has been on the wall the entire time what their ambitions are.

I just don’t understand why McNeil Keane Tarkowksi Mykolenko O’Brien Gana can make whatever silly errors they want. Grealish did a stupid back heel on his own goal line v Wolves then gets sent off for dissent. We’ve had hair pulls, handballs, back passes, careless playing out, mis timed lunges, hitting your own player, having zero positional sense, chasing the ball like a school boy, and aimless running down blind alleyways. That’s all fine apparently.

But the second Dibling loses the ball, it’s all this over exasperated heads in hands and arms up from the manager followed by him getting hooked at half time. Alcaraz is just generally not liked for no known reason as he seems a hard worker who always tries even when not playing well. Patterson is met with utter revilement every time he’s mentioned. Barry is spoken about like he wasn’t signed by the manager, and Aznou is spoken about like he isn’t even a footballer. Rohl has gone from well liked to behind Armstrong after one bad game. Meanwhile we have kids on the bench who are clearly never going to play a single minute for us.

We have two fullbacks at the club in Patterson and Aznou who effectively won’t be used by the manager despite us having a massive fullback issue. God forbid we played Patterson at right back or even tried Aznou there when we can just stick with a known liability in O’Brien instead.

We have two midfielders in Rohl and Alcaraz both bought in the summer neither of whom the manager trusts as first choice.

We have a 40 mill pound wide player that the manager doesn’t like

Plus two strikers for a combined worth of 50 mill plus and Moyes actually likes the one he didn’t buy that the club would actually like to move on but is seemingly being forced to play the one we spent a ton on in the summer.

It’s a bit ridiculous. Managers should maximise the resources they have. It was stupid of Dyche to keep O’Brien on the bench and it’s stupid what Moyes is doing now. Players make mistakes, at least young ones have a chance to develop from them and learn from them. The senior players I’ve listed will just keep making them and will make more and more as they get older and slower.

Well said. The precious, much-revered 'experienced' players are allowed to make as many errors as they like, while young players and new signings are punished with exclusion. It should be completely the opposite.

The last few games have set the tone. We have dropped seven points to Burnley, Wolves, and Brentford - points we would have needed if we were to seriously compete for a European place. These were the games where we should have been making hay. Instead, we now have to make those points up against "proper big clubs" - and we know that Moyes is not exactly a specialist in that...

So, while we are nominally "still in the chase", in reality we are like the 400m hurdler who is "still in the race" coming around the first bend having failed to build the lead needed to truly compete before the big unwind.

If we lose tomorrow, the season is effectively over. We'll soon be adrift in the league as we are not beating the likes of Aston Villa on current - or even good - form.

….to be fair to the anti-Moyes brigade, they’ve had their typing fingers in their pockets for so long they were bound to unleash their vitriol at some point.

15 points outside bottom 3, only 4 points off top 5. What a fantastic job he’s doing.

Huge loss being without KDH and Ndiaye for such a busy period. The absence of KDH in particular is difficult to overcome.
Do you think he got it right both in terms of personnel and tactics in the last two matches? It's weird that you won't countenance even the mildest of criticisms of David Moyes whilst preaching to the forum about balance.

When you look at which teams are doing better/worse than they would expect it feels like we’re missing an opportunity

Worse:
Liverpool, Chelsea, United, Spurs, City (perhaps), Bournemouth, Palace, Newcastle, Forest, West Ham, Brighton

Better:
Arsenal, Villa, Sunderland, Brentford, Leeds, Fulham

About expected:
Wolves, Burnley, Everton

There’s a lot of teams in there underperforming so far by what they’d have probably expected their target to be at the start of the season.

out of the mid table group, every other side has taken more of an advantage to date. We could still well finish ahead of all of Subderland Brentford Fulham but the feeling around those fanbases is one of excitement and that they’ve absolutely maxed out their opportunity to put points on the board and get a good league position. Aside from Wolves and Burnley who prob expected to be in the bottom 3, we’re the only team in the league that’s currently just finishing where you might expect them to, but that’s a disappointment when so much of the league is underperforming. It also just feels completely ‘meh’ whilst we’re supposed to be at the start of an exciting new era

….i think overall he’s done a terrific job.

Last two matches hugely disappointing. I don’t blame him for selection, I do think Beto could’ve been introduced at any time after the break on Wednesday. I also think we were made-to-measure for Brentford and he should’ve matched them going 3 at the back.

Only thing I can think of re Brentford game is that Grealish would’ve had to play a wing back position so he opted for Beto and Barry. As I posted, I think he got that wrong and we quickly conceded again after HT. Brentford were very underestimated on here, they were decent and I always felt we needed 2 goals against Wolves.

Moyes has to be accountable for his part in summer transfer failures, more specifically Barry and Dibling very disappointing to this point. I also think he escapes a lot of criticism for our defensive frailty from corners.

It’s important not to have fixed view and try and be balanced. Opinion doesn’t have to be binary, you don’t have to be all-in for or against somebody, I just feel some posters are.

Edit; other thing I’ll add is playing this busy period without KDH and Ndiaye is bound to be difficult.

It is not just the last two.

After our game I switched to the Newcastle v Leeds game more incidents in 5 minutes than our 95 minutes at BMD - the speed of the football was 10 times faster too -

DM is not the man to have in charge, he did a great job last season - that is it he will take us no further - he has been sacked many times as a manager - he has blown a 100 Million & we have two good players to show for it....

We are 8 points of the bottom four ..... forget the players who are missing its his tactics - changing winning team & he knew we needed two full backs in June .....

….you only watched it for 20mins or so, it was like a basketball match, we’re 7 points ahead of Leeds and 3 behind Newcastle (18 points behind at the end of last season).
