2025/26 David Moyes

He's here for another 18 months.
Mid table this season/next.
Joyless, but avoids trauma of previous years.
I'd have taken that when he took over this time a year ago.

The problem is we have been here before haven’t we especially since the 90s. The same patterns repeat themselves.

There are clubs who have been relegated and had attendance drops like Aston Villa, yet they progress but time and again we have narratives about stability.

I am not having a go at you or anything, it’s just that we have been in this monotonous cycle before and it gets us no where.

To me it feels like the club is just happy staying jn the league and anything else is a bonus.

Any serious competitive club wouldn’t stay like we have and certainly wouldn’t stay quiet about certain officiating and the likes of Pawson.

It’s like the club wants to be seen as this classy outfit when in some ways it isnt, it simply doesn’t care enough because they all get paid regardless. The match going fan gets taken for granted.

It also ignores the money that Moyes will undoubtedly waste being in charge of recruitment.

I'll never understand this.

When he took over this time a year ago, circumstances were different to what they are now or will be next summer. When you are fighting for your existence as a club because your ownership are borderline criminal and completely AWOL, then, yes, you will embrace the notion of stability and mid-table boredom. But our new owners are not borderline criminals and are very much present in managing the finances of the club. We are no longer in danger of relegation. So, the circumstances have changed. We do not need to embrace stability for dear life. We need to progress. Moyes is running out of chances and time to prove he can do that. I hope we shake his hand in the summer for a job well done - as we should have done last summer if the competent professionals had actually been in place rather than on gardening leave.

If we had had this run of results under another manager, would we be calling for Moyes to be appointed for ‘stability’?

The argument seems to be let’s stick with Moyes cause if we appoint anyone else it may not work out & we may become ‘unstable’.

On that basis we would never make a change.

Moyes has already achieved his remit of avoiding relegation this season so surely if we could get someone who we believe would or could significantly improve us then we should make a change. Eg when Emery became available Aston Villa acted.

I hope that the owners are looking.

Reading these comments it's almost like we've not had relegation battles for the last FOUR seasons. Effectively 15 points above the drop early into the New Year, of the post-Moyes1.0 era, I only remember being this comfortable under Ancelotti at this point of the season.

Can't we have some stability ffs? There's zero need to make a change or even to call for one. Let's see what's going to happens, we have been afforded that time.

It's obviously not perfect but my god it's like stuff written by a bowl of goldfish.

Yes, almost of us would've taken that 12mths ago - gladly.

Also there are mitigating circumstances of the squad he inherited...and, depending who you believe - the additions 'Somebody' made to it.

Anyway;
Moyes gets you there OK, but he's a 'Bulls Eye' / "oh unlucky and here's what you could've won" type manager in that - with a little bit more...??
Guts, Ambition, Boldness, willingness to go for it - whatever
But that's not his nature - never was.

This is The Moyes will be Moyes Paradox

Edit; Besides all that, he fails Napoleon's requirements for a Commander...gist...'nevermind his strategic, tactical skills and experience -
Is He Lucky?'

Ans; No he isnt - see dreadlock-gate

I am honestly fine with the club evaluating in the summer whether or not they want to move on. To do so now wouldn’t do us any good at all, an if we get it wrong then it could get event worse. As you said, let’s have some stability. Boring mid table is ok for this season. It’s a very welcome break.

The flip side of that is that we finished 13th last season, having had a first half of the season which some people thought the manager should be burnt at the stake for, and finished 12th in terms of points won the season before. We’ve now got a better manager, and have invested more in the squad than we had for some time (I won’t say we actually improved it by bringing in £150m worth of players, people get very prickly about that) but we still find ourselves 12th. I don’t agree with anyone saying we should sack the manager now, that’s ridiculous, but I also don’t understand this idea that it’s absolutely outrageous to think that 12th is 12th, and if it wasn’t good enough 18 months ago it shouldn’t be good enough now.

I think you need reminding football is intended as entertainment.

If you crave stability for longer than necessary you become sterile. You start to accept mediocrity as it’s better than the cack we had previously. Some Evertonians are great at setting a low bar.

Ive been struck with a touch of recency bias lately when watching the blues and I need to swerve it.

Moyeseys dithering in match is what winds me up, otherwise I'm OK with him. He does a good job. Eventually the team plays good stuff. I remember his last stint.

What i wanna know is where is last seasons moyes? Going for wins instead of trying not to lose. From where we are now, a half season like last one will put us on 60 ish points which will be in with a shout of Europe.

It was said, an astronomical amount of times, that the best place to finish the Premier League year in and year out was 17th. Because you don't need to spend THAT much but the money you get far outweighs everything.

People earnestly telling fans who haven’t seen a trophy win for 30 years, a league win for 40, have gone through 3 final day escapes, and have hardly seen a win away at a top side in a generation that they need to be more patient is something that will never stop making me laugh.

As much as he annoyed me last night, I believe it would be lunacy to want him not to see the season out. Let’s get out better players back on the pitch and see how he does. I really struggle watching Everton these days though, it’s so boring and predictable.
