2025/26 David Moyes

We’re probably broadly on track for where we ought to be, but it’s just the opportunity loss. Why can’t we take advantage of some teams having a bad year and accelerate the process a bit instead of clinging to the lowest rung of stability as the first step.

If we came 8th with a good cup run it’s probably only a handful of better performances than 13th and out of all the cups early but almost every fan knows we’ll probably default to the latter through our own making rather than grasping the opportunity.

The leoblem then arises that by the time you become competitive there may well be an extremely good sky six again and you get locked out.

United are at their lowest ebb, so are Spurs, Chelsea are a basket case, Newcastle are spluttering, Liverpool’s having a poor season. Bournemouth are poor, Palace are wobbling, Forest are terrible, West Ham have gone. We’ve not taken advantage at all.
Moyes did this every year as Everton manager, City would slip up then we get beat 1-0 by West Brom at home and who can forget Everton 0-3 Wigan in the cup QF.he a top managers he just not S tier or even A tier

Reading was another massive missed opportunity. He'd get a pass for losing to the "proper big clubs" but would capitulate to a Shrewsbury or Wigan.

The Keane sending off has probably saved him from a bit more scrutiny, but if I'm honest it's only the McNeil decision he made that I have a huge problem with.

I know everyone is on the warpath about JOB at right back currently, and I understand why, but I don't see Patterson as being any better of an option. We just need to buy a right back.

The fact McNeil stayed on the pitch, when weighed against the times Dibling has been hauled off at half time is a difficult one to understand and I have a bit of a problem with it, given Dibling has a future here and McNeil doesn't

On borrowed time.
Defeat in the cup at the weekend might be one defeat too many.
We seem to be going backwards.
Wouldnt say that, we spent the last 3 years on the verge of relegation including staying up on Game 37 and 38. We have no fear of that this year. Yes we like to advance and we have but Moyes isn’t a good enough manager to get us top 4. We have far too many of today’s games with him as manager.
He doing a great job if you don’t look at it week to week, we are safe, we all wanted a boring 12th place finish and that’s what we are going to get.

He’s not the man to push us on though

I can’t see him being sacked this season, they would have to drop off dramatically to where Forest are maybe to see that.

The only advantage he has is the league placings aren’t so distant so a decent run would see them move up substantially but it’s attaining that.

And obviously we have an obsession with stability and that’s what he will claim to have done. No relegation battle this year.

My issue is that you need to show decent progress to get better players each season and that we face the same issues we did last summer.

The Sunderland game is massive so he best not play a weakened team on Saturday like he did at Wolves in the Caraboa Cup. I'll be furious if he leaves out Pickford for an inferior keeper like he did that day.

I got pissed off with him making rafts of changes and gong out of cup comps early because of that in his first spell.

Therefore he’s not the man for the job moving forward.

It’s really bizarre that he can get some unlikely results and then proceeds over absolutely horrendous results and performances the following week.

He’s already down to the bare bones mate.
We are there for the taking.
