I really like Moyes and he’s an upgrade on Dyche but I’m not sure he’s the one to take us to the top.

He’s not. He’s the one to take us away from the crap of the last decade and make us more attractive to better players/coaches in the future.

It’s a long, long road back from where we’ve been. Yesterday was an absolute cock up but we are moving forward. At some point, the owners will want us to pick up the pace too and they’ll make more changes.

But hooking Dibling was also a massively bone headed decision by Moyes.

Agree on Dibling though, great way to destroy any small confidence that the lad was getting, but Moyes biggest problem was getting Keane back into the starting 11 asap - unnecessary to mess with the back four.

I’ve spoken numerous times about Moyes handling of our younger players.

It really is poor, and I think it’s an area that’ll eventually hurt him because TFG clearly have a plan in place to go after younger potential, as well as more experienced players.

If he’s ignoring 50% of TFG’s strategy & investments, it’ll be his head that rolls.

He’s got credit in the bank you’d assume, but there will become a time that’ll also where thin with TFG.

This season is one of stability and transition for TFG , the club and the team.

We are moving from a basket case of a club and a team into what I hope and trust is a more sustainable financial environment which in turn should see judicious investment and improvement in the team.

We are witnessing the start of that improvement, 28 points by 1 Jan is virgin territory for some of our newer supporters.

We are also witnessing some wildly fluctuating performances/ results.

Moyes has to take the credit and blame in equal measure. When the odds are stacked against us Moyes seems able to inspire the team and individuals to succeed. However when we are expected to take the game to the opposition we often fail miserably. There is no doubt in my mind that this emanates from Moyes safety first approach. He has always been that way and always will be. Quite simply I don't think that he is adept at coaching a team to play free flowing attacking football and doesn't trust flair players.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Moyes is a tactical dinosaur like say Pulis , Allardyche or Dyche. He is light years ahead of them as a football coach but equally he's not got the philosophy of say Pep or Louis Enrique .

With our current squad and relative financial constraints this pragmatic approach is one which I suspect TFG will find favour with, frustrating as it is at times for some of us.

However it won't take many more performances like yesterday to change their collective minds.

There is no way TFG will or should change course and relieve Moyes of his position at this stage.

However, how we perform until the end of the season, how Moyes is able to integrate the new signings into the team and TFG's ambitions for the club will dictate what happens at the end of the season.

I'd love us to be in a position in the summer to thank Moyes for his role in providing stability and move on with a younger more progressive coach with funds to invest in the team.

Time will tell .

Ah so he did sorry. Regardless id stick with the wider point benching Tyler at half time was harsh and he should be looking at the bigger picture. Not like he specifically made any errors or stunk the place out.

I'll be honest I nearly flipped my telly when he ran up the wing with the ball and eventually had 2/3.Brentford players on him and the rest of our team just left him to it

Your not wrong mate, Moyes handling of dibling and some other new signings has bordered on criminal.

I know exactly what your talking about, happens a lot on both flanks. so many times I was screaming for the team to offer support for both wingers, and it just never materialises. Brentford and other teams don’t have to do much to break down our attacking moves.

Moving JOB to rb played right into Brentford’s hands, far too defensive a decision.

If we dont spend in the window I think it is a definite sign that he wont be with us next season.
As dull as it sounds this season was all about getting to mid table safety and away from any relegation worries.
Moyes has to go all out for the cup next week as it will probably be his last chance of winning a trophy with us.
Going back to yesterday it really was a disaster all round and i dont ever remember watching a game where the whole team stunk.
Moyes has to stop playing Keane and Mcniel and stop playing OBrien at left back before he ruins the kid.

Where has this myth come from that you need a manager to steady the ship, improve things and then you appoint a better manager?

You can be performing poorly, dwelling near the bottom of the league and just appoint a decent manager that will take the club forward, too. Villa, Palace and Brighton have done so recently.

It's such a poor justification from fans that just love David Moyes, IMO.

The odd thing about yesterday for me was in the pre match build up Moyes did a little interview where he spoke about Brentford and how he is a big fan of what they do (even under Frank) they can go long, pass it about, they can set piece you, etc,etc. Then during the actual match we did nothing to actually prevent the way they played other than in the first 5-10mins.

I wouldn't say it's fans protecting Moyes per se think it's people hedging their bets as we've had a rough few years so it's hard to accept things might turn round very quick
