Well firstly he could have said what he did with more conviction, but in summary, any or all of:

- Racism is horrible
- Racists are trashbags
- Racists should be IDed and given lifetime bans
- Social media should introducer tighter controls on/punishment of racist behaviour
- Everyone should feel able to play the game without fear of being abused

One throwaway comment from Page 1 of the Media Training Handbook does not constitute strong condemnation.

If a racist and a black footy player were watching that presser, only one of them feels emboldened to keep doing what they're doing.
racism is horrible and racists are trashbags and the majority of people agree with that however there will always be a small minority of bad eggs in society and i don't think anyone needs to hear moyes say that racism is horrible to further the narrative that it is. First, he isn't a major celebrity, yes he's the manager of a high profile premier league club, but he hasn't got the same kind of status as a cristiano ronaldo or lionel messi does who's voice is listened to by hundreds of millions of people all over the world. Second moyes is not an MP or a government official, and i doubt that Moyes saying in a conference that racism is horrible is going to bring about any legislative changes.

if your annoyed because moyes didn't codemn racism to a greater extent than he did in public then that is fine however i would like to think that its common sense that he would clearly condemn racism just like he would condemn any other crime such as murder or homophobic chanting.

I'm going to go out on a limb and imagine that Moyes doesnt have the foggiest what social media is either so unless there was abuse in earshot he probably doesn't even know what he's commenting on.

Very true and my post was certainly not aimed at anyone other than that person, in that regards.

I just feel it may not have been needed to be said. I get that everybody wants people to talk about this but as I have alluded to previously, maybe it was Doucoure who asked him not to go into detail. Just finished a book on racism in sport, and it some of it deals with the fact that they just want to play sport. A lot of them protect themselves by shrugging it off. Doucoure may be like this and doesn't want a big deal made out of it, and accepts that the authorities are dealing with it.

We just don't know, and as we have mentioned that person just doesn't want to think of possible nuances in the situation and just wants to go after their latest targeted hate campaign.
I said earlier, it's much more a criticism of the comms team than Moyes for me, but I don't buy what you're saying.

He was asked a direct question and just gave a really half arsed answer. If there were issues with the police investigation or Doucoure's feelings we could have said at the start of the press conference that we wouldn't be taking any questions on the subject, but we evidently didn't. If Doucoure would rather not have a big fuss made he could have said that, but it wouldn't preclude him from also giving his own thoughts - after all, that's exactly what he did but just not in a particularly good way. Making the initial point about Doucoure himself being in the wrong was poor, as was saying 'if it happened'. Somebody should have prepped him better, even if all he said was 'the club released a statement yesterday that says everything you need to know'.

It's not a massive deal in regards to his job as manager, it's just poor. I work in comms, this type of thing annoys me because it's just amateurish.

Moyes doesnt work in comms, hes a football manager mate.

Anyway.

Good points said by some, point scoring nonsense by others.

Lets focus on the footbal now lads, something NOBODY can even touch Moyes with.

No, that's a different matter.

This is about Moyes's response, which was shocking in how lame he was.

Feller's a dinosaur. Any manager worth their salt would be on that and point blank making it all about the racists...but Moyes turns it round to make it about Doucoure.
"I should warn you by using the term 'lame,' you are violating the Americans with Disabilities Act"

before saying he felt sorry for Arne Slot.
There's a chance he was being coy re oliver and slot, not wanting to glory in his red carding so as not to invite the media throbfest to chastise both himself and his side in some wanton act of mindless revenge later in the season.

I hadn't noticed anything on comms on Wednesday evening, so cannot pass comment on behaviour I didn't witness or hear from the away fans area.

Was there anything specific aimed at Doucoure from the away fans that could be construed as abuse based on race? I ask that (of the entire forum*) honestly and without any malice.

It'd be a very brave or very foolish opposition player that goes barging into a home player confronting that type of abuse wouldn't it. The kind of thing that few players would make it back from. Cancelled, so to speak.

They just want Moyes to say the words
SAY THE WORDS MOYES!
SAY.
THE.
WORDS!

A good 90% of those posting the abhorrent emojis and gifs wouldn’t know where to locate Liverpool on a map of the UK, let alone step foot near Anfield, they aren’t fans and I dare say it’s the result of betting rings gone bad as in most cases of racial abuse

There was a heavy chunk of Reds on the club’s statement rightly condemning it so let’s not tar everyone with the same brush eh?
The same type if not the very same walking venereal diseases that put Saka through all that abuse after the England penalty miss. The social media firms were apparently doing something about the problem, but that seems like lifetimes and universes ago. tbf to LFC, they were onto the issue in the same breath as Everton were. So there is some steadfast cross community support for the stance of kicking racism out of football.

Not “much” of an improvement ?

So scoring the same amount of goals in 4 games as Dyche did in his final 15 and getting 4 wins in 4-5 weeks , which is half of what Dyche done in a calandar year … WITH THE SAME players … while increasing our possession , chances created and over all attacking play…

Is not much of an improvement ?
But but but, Dyche didn't have Alcaraz, so there! Pee'd on your bonfire! Once again, I was right all along... etc...
