racism is horrible and racists are trashbags and the majority of people agree with that however there will always be a small minority of bad eggs in society and i don't think anyone needs to hear moyes say that racism is horrible to further the narrative that it is. First, he isn't a major celebrity, yes he's the manager of a high profile premier league club, but he hasn't got the same kind of status as a cristiano ronaldo or lionel messi does who's voice is listened to by hundreds of millions of people all over the world. Second moyes is not an MP or a government official, and i doubt that Moyes saying in a conference that racism is horrible is going to bring about any legislative changes.Well firstly he could have said what he did with more conviction, but in summary, any or all of:
- Racism is horrible
- Racists are trashbags
- Racists should be IDed and given lifetime bans
- Social media should introducer tighter controls on/punishment of racist behaviour
- Everyone should feel able to play the game without fear of being abused
One throwaway comment from Page 1 of the Media Training Handbook does not constitute strong condemnation.
If a racist and a black footy player were watching that presser, only one of them feels emboldened to keep doing what they're doing.
if your annoyed because moyes didn't codemn racism to a greater extent than he did in public then that is fine however i would like to think that its common sense that he would clearly condemn racism just like he would condemn any other crime such as murder or homophobic chanting.
