2024/25 David Moyes

He’d been there about 5 years though hadn’t he? I understand wanting to freshen things up after that long. I don’t think they were going to progress any further under him, it’s like when he left here in 2013, we all thought it was time for a change for us. Obviously we didn’t know that we’d proceed to get every single appointment wrong in the 11 years that followed.
He does have a ceiling, right now we would bite your hand for his challenging for the lower European spots each season.

For me what he has done over the past 4 months is incredible, he has got the best out of what weve got.
He has another level to go as i mentioned above (Thats his maximum IMO)

The question is do we give him everything to get there or are TFG wanting more.
The clubs in safe hounds now with ownership and manager but is it enough?

I still wouldn't be surprised if he's gone in the summer.

I am at a point where I can't believe what I am reading.
People are worried about Moyes wasting money. Of all the things you could not criticise moyes with over the last tenure it cannot be his ability to find value in the market.
Yes people keep coming back to strikers, but we never had the wages or transfer fees to get a guaranteed striker, so your beaties clearly were a miss. But Andy Johnson had a good season, Saha and Yakubu were solid striker purchases.
But for every Klodrup and Beatie, there were 5 amazing players, some of which in hindsight can be viewed as Everton legends of the Premier League era, including Cahill, Arteta, Jagielka, Baines, and Peinnar.
Also signing Lescott, Yobo, Distin, and, of course, John Stones... All of whom were great defenders. And lets not forget 60k Coleman. Signed decent keepers too.
The big signing was Fellaini, and we made a good profit on him. As well as selling Rodwell at the right time.

He was prepared to take chances on players with potential x factor that never came off too, Van de Meide, Fernandes, Jo and Drenthe - all of which were gambles never came off but showed ambition. None of which broke the bank.

But yes, you are also going to have to put up with the solid yet boring signings work horses - Nevilles, Kilbans, Naismiths.

No manager gets everything right in the transfer market, but Moyes, for me, is the man that I would trust more than anyone else to spend frugally and wisely. We have not bought as well at any time during the Premier League era as when Moyes was manager for the first time. Signing players on the way up or with something left to prove... and then coaching the team to be greater than the sum of its parts.
Good post that mate.

However, can’t have Naismith as a workhorse type, I’d love a team of Steven Naismiths, vastly underrated player imo.

Summed up very neatly.

With Thelwell going it looks like they've given the keys to the kingdom to Davy but in all honesty only Dan knows what's going to happen.

Obviously they are ambitious, the question is are they impatient?

Good play that mate.

The chaos they'd create from being unable to control a ball well would be amazing.

But then again the passes would have to be from another Steven Naismith, and that's also a disaster.

Overall, "clown fiesta" comes to mind.

Old habit's?...Jesus wept.

He's currently got a team who are either on the beach
you know this how?
,out of contract
Contracts nappen
or just completely gash
They weren't that gash when he - finally changed it round
so I don't quite know what he means by "old habits".
Goes for a draw...the old KITAP1 - but without the wherewithal to Pinch 1 until in a last fling he changes it round and the - Lo and Behold we start playing a bit 'better'
This is, as it was 12, 15, 18 yrs ago
Am convinced chaos and upheaval is the only place some Blues call home.
Not at all.

Edit; Moyes might be a bit more experienced and 'have his mojo back' - but it's still His  mojo

And, as ever.
Moyes will be Moyes.

Given his resources I find it impossible to criticize his transfer record at Everton.

What some posters are doing however is using the signings at Wham as a stick to beat him with .

I find it difficult to understand that argument when we have no idea which transfers there he was actually responsible for.

also that they let his contact dry up, brought in a disaster, and went back to him cap in hand, then sold his best player out from under him. Then criticised him.

Yeah I mean, I can’t believe he’s not picked prime Dixie Dean and both Ronaldos.

There’s only so much that can be done with this squad and that sure as hell ain’t on Moyes’ head.

He wants to aim for Europe next season. I’m just getting behind that and BMD. It’s a nice change from the doom, although it spreads some people want to remain gloomy.
Am absolutely sick of Evertonians.

That's for the breakdown.

It's not being 'gloomy'
Nobody was more pleasantly surprised and pleased that he managed to Un-Dyche the team.
But as Moyes goes on he'll just 'Moyes it' more - But it's better than Dyche which was all he had to be.

When (hopefully) we get some better players, he'll just be playing KITAP1 a bit high up the League...and being higher up the League is not to be sneezed at.

Baring one of his notorious sometimes slow starts where we've only got 3 or 4 pts deep into October he'll see his contract out.
So let see if he can break his away duck at all the usual suspects.

I was writing 12+ yrs ago about Moyes...gist.
All Moyeses 'good' points - and there are many - got us where we are, but all his 'bad' points stop us going any further.
We have (had back then) a decent team - just take the handbrake off a little

Roma shows they can be ruthless
