2024/25 David Moyes

15/20 yrs ago,
What he did at west ham is worrying if he’s given full control

20 years ago - not sure what Shenanigans you and the doc have pulled, but seems you’ve managed to get 1.21 gigawatts in to the Dolerean and woke up in 2033.

You mean also taking West Ham from relegation fodder to Europe and finals.

Doing that at WHU - here (again) Woukdnt worry me in the slightest.

Just got to kick back and enjoy the show!

But can he actually build that squad? Or do we need someone to build it for him? I think it is a valid question. We will see in the summer window. He has to get it right or we will end up at square one again with aging overpriced players that we can't get rid of. That is what we are trying to avoid.
We shouldn’t have put Moyes in charge of recruitment. He’ll do what most managers do, buy players for the immediate short term.

Moyes is the very definition of short-termism. Time to begin the new era. He can leave with his head held high.

Have to wonder what he will do on a 2 year deal.

Will he sign short-term players?

The squad is rubbish lads. We’re a million miles away from having a side that can expect to go to places like Stamford bridge and win more often than not. He’s done really well to get much better performances out of them and to put a few wins together early on, but we’re back to the sort of form that sees you looking over your shoulder because that’s the level of squad we’ve got. We really need to stop thinking it’s just a manager issue when we’re clearly crap.

Its not the results for me. Ive praised his tactics in most games.

The issue is the players hes picking and the rewarding of poor performances getting starts:

Broja
Doucoure
Harrison

Make no sense.

Kinda agree here. He was a means to an end, and fulfilled his mantra. But it seems with such a big overhaul needed this summer, it’s the perfect opportunity for a long term manager to come in and stamp his authority on the squad going forward. Seems a bit of a waste having Moyes do that who could be gone by Christmas. Get in a talented young coach, and invest in talented young players to start building a brighter future. You can’t allow him to clog up the squad with ageing yard dogs like Soucek and Longstaff.

Its all about the transfers this summer.

If he signs short-term players hes aiming for 7th place and above.

But what we need are long term players with a top 8 finish for 2 seasons and then adding star quality to push the team on.

We need a rebuild calling for another managerial change at this stage is madness. Whoever the manager is this will take a few seasons to improve with the squad rebuild we need. I do wish he would let the handbrake off a bit more at times though

How would a manager on a 2 year deal rebuild? Tuchel even admitted hes going for short term results not to build.

A Soucek is a short term expensive wage signing. We dont need this.

He spent about 500mil, yes won a conference cup but wasted 300mil on utter dross and now West Ham are paying the penalty. Ward prowse 30mil vlasic 30mil, cornet 20, Benrahma 25, agured 30,scammaca 40 mavropanos 20, Emerson 15. Flynn downes 10. Kalvin Phillips 7mil for half a season loan, having hardly kicked a ball in 2 yrs. that’s just some of his belters
And I’m sure Moyes toook over us in 2002, t
Is that 23 years ago??

I really apologise, next time I will put 12/23 years

Is that what he said?

FFS.

I cant be arsed watching his interviews. He's a dullard and I know that there'll never be anything of interest or ambitious in his words.

What a character we've been landed with again.

All we needed to do was to hold our nerve in January, keep Dyche and get well cleared 3 teams below us who've barely picked up a point since....then we could have had a choice of the best managers out there this summer....but now we're...

....Stuck With Moyes.🎼
Let it go mate. Dyche doesn’t fancy you.

The clever people...

When you say 'people' do you mean 'person'? Usually it's just one idiot holding the spray can. Could easily have been a RS scamp, they have form for vandalism.

He's had more than enough time now to judge this entire squad. His fault if he hasn't utilised certain players by now.

Contracts cannot be given to Doucoure (the stats this season speak for themselves as a player who starts every week - 3 goals is it? Hard work as a number 10 does not outperform goals and assists), Keane (no need to elaborate), Calvert-Lewin (was offered a contract, didn't want to sign it, so that's that), Coleman (can't even get on the field when seemingly fully fit and when a centre half is sent off and there's another centre half playing out of place at right back) or Young (obviously finished).

Let's hope the new owners were fully aware before purchasing the club that a monumental squad upheaval was required this summer.

They took a huge risk in January by sticking with a woeful squad, now it's time to invest heavily, especially since the gap between mid-table and literally 2nd place, in terms of quality, is probably as low as it's ever been.

If we miss this opportunity now, God knows if it'll ever come along again since United, Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool, City, Newcastle, and Villa will almost certainly spent at least £100/200m a club net on new talent this upcoming transfer window.
