2024/25 David Moyes

Love everyone who only posts after losses piling in here to call all the players a bunch of wasters (they have a point here to be fair) and loudly declare that Moyes is Not The Man To Take Us Forward
So that excludes me then ,I didn't want him and although grateful for the points think he fell on his feet ,in fact he says so himself that the players have shocked him .
I cannot wait for him to fall on his asre and be booted out of the door ,to be replaced with a manager who ambition not one who already has his old slippers on from years when we should have done better .
Don't quote the "we had no money then "at me because we have had no money for the last three years and Thelwell assembled this squad in the main.

Penny will drop that the players we have prevent us playing dynamic attacking football.
Who exactly should we pick as our starting 11 in this new style of football.

Fans are representative of the population. Lack of critical thinking. People still blaming the mangers for moshiris running the club in the ground.
Until investment starts nothing changes
There were players in the squad other than Doucoure and Harrison he could pick instead. Alcaraz and McNeill in and let's actually attempt to play footy.

The footy has been of a poor standard and the results have been alright overall but have dropped off recently. I wanted to see if he had grown a bit since the old days of knives to gunfights but I am not seeing it tbh.

I'm happy, he's not Dyche and the results are slightly improved but do I think two more years of this type of footy and approach is desirable? Not really, no.

your saying you don’t want moyes in the recruitment - our recruitment we’ve had is been horse poo.

it won’t just be moyes anyway

and he’s got an eye for a player
How can you say that when the players he has are not getting a game ?
Our best player early season was Iroegbenum -he cannot get a game .
Chermitti comes on with rest running out of steam -but he still plays one who has the turning circle of a double decker bus and the first touch of an elephant ,another who with all the best will in the world had a lucky streak of games but now every team knows how to stop him ,hell we even have set of players who realise that so don't even bother passing to him!
Finally we have two "wingers" that would make a real winger wince ,one has been on loan for 5 seasons ,just think about that all the skill and no idea ,the other has decided to get signed he would have more chance taking a sick note .

He spent about 500mil, yes won a conference cup but wasted 300mil on utter dross and now West Ham are paying the penalty. Ward prowse 30mil vlasic 30mil, cornet 20, Benrahma 25, agured 30,scammaca 40 mavropanos 20, Emerson 15. Flynn downes 10. Kalvin Phillips 7mil for half a season loan, having hardly kicked a ball in 2 yrs. that’s just some of his belters
And I’m sure Moyes toook over us in 2002, t
Is that 23 years ago??

I really apologise, next time I will put 12/23 years

Agreed some of those are shockers but some aren’t and all clubs make mistakes in the transfer market.

Benrahma for example.
Was around 23 when West Ham signed him.
Had just come off 2 seasons in the championship where he got 27 goals and 23 assists in 84 games.
He’s the sort of signing we’d all be crying for Everton to make.
Signed for £25m and they recouped most of this in loan and transfer fees (and he still contributed more goals than any of our wide players do).

Emerson - Italian international. 15m euros is around £12.5m. Didn’t work out at Chelsea but had just come off a good season at Lyon. He’s not a great signing but not a complete shocker.

Brentford and Brighton aside, there are many actually many clubs that tend to have a particularly good record with transfers and “shockers” can be picked out everywhere.

Yea we know mate we all have tranfermaekt. We are also aware of the good players he signed Bowen, Kudos, Paqueta etc - there’s no need to the dance everyone knows.

People also know that spending 500 mill isn’t gross it’s also net. But the goal isn’t what you spend it’s the impact.

As I said before he took WHU from relegation fodder to Europe and Cup Finals (thanks for mentioning he one a trophy. That’s in the last five years - 20 lol - he did the same here.

Your point is he did the above due to bad recruitment - that’s non email and if it was I’m ok with him doing that here if it leaves to same outcome.

He left this club in 2013 round 1, I’ll let people do the maths on your he hasn’t recruited well for Everton in 20 years hyperbole.

Have absolutely 0 stress about our recruitment -
Actually really looking forward to it!

If there's no intention for him to stay longer than 2 years, why would you allow him to build a new squad this summer? I wouldn't be averse to a great big thanks and goodbye.
I have to agree. It’s mostly coming from him himself that he won’t be here long, there’s quotes again this week with him confirming that. Someone mentioned earlier we can’t be sacking yet another manager because of the instability that brings, but we already have it because we have a short term manager in place. The situation we find ourselves in is not normal, the amount of players out of contract is ridiculous. A huge rebuild is needed over the next 2/3/4 windows, starting this summer. To me, it makes absolutely no sense to let Moyes start that rebuild. He was a safe pair of hands that we needed at the time, but surely if the new owners are ambitious, the plan should be to recruit a talented young manager to start the long term rebuild this summer? New manager, new players, new stadium, new beginning.

Again the Sundays are going big on Moyes insisting on Soucek from West Ham. Ok, people will bite back with “we haven’t signed him” which is true, but let’s be honest would any of us be surprised if he WAS pushing for Soucek? A player in to his 30’s whose best days are behind him. If they do leave him in place, they shouldn’t let him play any part whatsoever in recruitment, especially as he says himself, he’s not going to be here long.

IMO, thank him for his efforts in keeping the club up, pay him the remainder of his contract, and recruit a top young manager and back him with youthful signings in the summer and let’s have a complete reset from next season.

That's a really ruthless approach and if we were able to spend significantly I would agree.

However I suspect that we will still be financially constrained and have to be patient and expect a gradual improvement.

If Moyes sees out his contract and establishes us as a top 8 team he will have done a good job and given an excellent platform to a younger , more progressive coach to come in and build upon.
