David Moyes

Hello and I appreciate being allowed on to your site.

I have a question. Apologies if others have asked before. But after a while, did you get tired of Moyes' tactics, stubborn-ness and the standard of football under him ?

You'll be aware of the divide it's causing amongst us West Ham fans. True, he won us a trophy but with the exception of Fiorentina in the final, in which we were very lucky, the standard of opposition was average at best.

My own view is that he's sucking the life out of us. As for the 'be careful what you wish for' and 'safe pair of hands' spouted out by his mates in the media, I don't buy into it.

Thanks in advance and good luck for the rest of the season.
Exactly this. Safe, half decent mediocrity.

But unless you're owned by an oil state these days, that's the best you can hope for. Football as a sporting competition is dead.

I know we are a bit OTT at times.

But imagine being a West Ham fan and thinking that winning a trophy and being 6th in the league isn’t good enough.

Good lord.
Absolutely mad isn’t it

People who wanted Moyes out after ten years of never winning a trophy and never winning away at a ‘big four’ ground were called mad and asked ‘what do you expect’ when we were the 4th or 5th most domestically successful club in the country!

I think he's even improved since joining West Ham from when he was at everton. We never used to win away to the old 'big 4' but now hasn't he just won at Arsenal and you beat Spurs away too this season.

I honestly am a bit gobsmacked when I hear West Ham fans on talksport complaining. I genuinely don't think with your budget and size of club you could be doing any better from a consistency point of view. West Ham fans are arguing that they have players like Kudus and Paqueta and feel the shackles should be let off but it just won't work. The rest of your team still isn't good enough to play how you want to play and you'll move down the table fast.

Its like when Martinez took over from Moyes he changed the style and despite a positive first season. After that when his style took over he had us getting worse and worse and that was with better players than you have now. The likes of Lukaku and Baines.

So my advice would be keep Moyes and keep winning more than losing and have regular European football and slowly build. Or get someone else and go back to what you were before him and become a yoyo club.

I don't think the "negative football" shouts will ever disappear tbh.

He was fantastic for us, as in he steadied the ship, built a couple of quality sides, could spot a player etc but always just fell short at the last hurdle (though not always his fault as the Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal teams back then were simply outstanding).

If you want entertainment and back to your usual relegation scraps then for sure, get rid of Moyes and see how it goes. Or, give him another season or so to make sure the foundations he leaves behind are solid and I guarantee he'll leave your club in a far better state than how he found it.

You've won a trophy for the first time since man went to the moon and cars were invented (obviously joking but that's what it feels like when you go years without a trophy as we only know too well) and he has you at the right end of the table, so I'd say stick with him this season and next and take things from there.

Isn't his contract due to run out end of this season anyway? If so, I'd be surprised if he takes you up on an offer now after leaving it so late and I don't think he'll be short of offers.

The thing that surprised me at WHU - is the amount of offensive signings hes made as opposed to defensive ones. He was brilliant at scouting and buying defenders here.

His defensive signings haven't been great their and they arent great at the back.

Some of his offensive signings are really top players, Bowen, Ward Prowse, Kudus, Paqueta - maybe playing to the crowd, who seem to like style over substance.

Bowen is a fantastic player. West Ham is the type of team you can sort of strike gold with really as it's London based so attracts top foreign talent more than others might be able to + it's one of those that it feels that home-grown lads like to stick around at.

Good for ship steadying. But then what's the alternative? West ham aren't realistically going to be in the top 6 so what do you expect? Think sometimes things just need shaking up to rid of the boredom of all us teams outside the top 6 having nothing to play for every year

Got to be honest like but went off Moyes after the way he snidely went to Man Utd. But his scouting network is 2nd to none. He’d make a great DOF in my opinion.
West Ham? Can’t think of any managers you have had over the years that are better than him and I’m nearly 60.

'Good times' ............. :(

He is a really good manager but he does seem to have a ceiling and is not interested in pushing beyond that.

It was that way at Everton and his recent comments about the expectations of West Ham fans would indicate that he has not changed.

However, how happy we would be now if we were where West Ham are.

I don't like it when a manager has already decided that his club is already at it's maximum.
The ambition should always be to want more.

I think this what stops David Moyes from being a really top manager.

moyes is an excellent manager don't care what anyone says

he made it really difficult for teams to beat his sides at home and he gets the odd incredible away performance every now and then that you wouldn't expect

Seamus Coleman recently had to describe Moyes in 1 word and he said "Leader"

he did an unbelievable job turning us from a relegation side to a top 6 side for many years giving us the chance to play in europe for many seasons and play good football at times including beating Sunderland 7-1 in the premier league. Yeah there were some down moments and his record against the top 5 teams in the country was always poor especially away from home but his team fought for everything. was just a shame that he could not complete the job in the 2009 fa cup final.

He was a very good manager for us and he has been for you too I don’t know what some people want. He stayed here too long so we all got bored of him but be careful what you wish for was right when you see what’s happened since he left.
