David Moyes - Tactically Inept

Ehh, Rodgers has been a premiership manager for all of 7 months. What exactly has he accomplished?

I will say that Sigurdsson, who he had at Reading, fills that attacking MF role that Everton desperately need.

He has a team made up of mostly Championship level players playing good attacking football, who actually manage to score more than 1 goal a game. Equal on points with us and the same goal difference, despite having a far worse squad on an individual basis.

So, basically nothing.

His good, attacking football has managed two more goals over the balance of 24 matches.

I think Rodgers is a good young manager despite his implosion at Reading, and I'm not at all happy with how this season has gone for us. But I think you're lacking some perspective here, he hardly has the level of accomplishment to suggest he could do the same here.

Moyes has taken us from a relegation fighting team, to a europe challenging team, and now a mid table team. If we're talking about accomplishing things, the best he's done is a cup final.

Judging the term 'accomplishing' by trophies, Rodgers and Moyes are on a par. Rodgers teaches his teams to play the correct way, and to an impressive level too. He's not nailed it away from home just yet, but he's doing damn well.

If we're talking about sustaining a team in the premier league, Moyes wins hands down, as Rodgers has no track record to back up suggestions he can do it.

If we're purely talking from a tactical sense:

Moyes > Rodgers, in terms of defence.
Rodgers > Moyes, in terms of attack.

So, basically nothing.

I never said anything about him doing the same here at all, i think you've rather missed my point. Rodgers has managed to get Swansea to exactly the same position in the league as us with a vastly inferior team, simply by playing a good style of football. Why is it that Moyes can't do the same ?

Unless that was sarcasm, no mate. Money has [Poor language removed] all to do with it.

Come on mate if you look at the top 6 in the league you'll find its the top 5 wage bills plus one other....United, City, RS, Gooners, Chelski plus whoever is on a roll.

With exceptions the role of mamager is vastly overrated and is a cult of personality. The best players playing as a collective generally win the most games. Moyes does as well as he can with the relatively limited resuources at his disposal.

look what mike walker did with norwich. brendon rodgers would not achieve 4th 2x5th 6th 2x7th and 8th with Everton

That's why I put up with the dirge. We could easily be much worse off. As it stands I'd expect us to leapfrog Swansea and Norwich, perhaps even Sunderland. An eighth place finish for quite a poor season would be a result. A good cup run would be a bonus.

Good post. I wish people would stop telling us Rodgers is the bees knees. He has done well but he has done it with a newly promoted minnow.

Moyes has Everton, a giant. OK a financially crippled giant but nevertheless a giant having to share a city with one of the recognised global franchises and attempt to measure up to a glorious past.

The challenges are totally different. Swansea is an adventure. Goodison is a hot seat.

I remember people saying the same about Holloway and Di Matteo the year before and phil Brown before that. It happens at every club, people look for a quick fix to sort the problems and then when that manager goes bad they do it again. I have 100% faith in Moyes and would'nt swap him for anyone in our situation... even Mourinho. Do you think he would do any better with limited funds? No he would have left by now.

NO Matter how frustrated i get, this sums it up. Plus I enjoy seeing what gems get unearthed by Moyes. Not Mr. Tactical, but a tremendous scout. Wish he hired someone other than a young archie knox to sit on the bench beside him

apart from the 4th place squad. The players we had in the other seasons you would expect to finish in those positions if not higher. The 4th spot season was a freak season when we got 40+ points scraping 1-0 victories in the first half of the season then really struggled in the second half. apart from finishing 4th the football was terrible and as a match goer it was awfull to watch.

This bollocks of only moyes would have done this and only moyes can do this, has to stop. Its a nonsense arguement that noone can prove.
