Saw him on The Empire first when I was 14.....and even though I was always soul/motown orientated, I was a massive fan thereafter. He always evolved and was innovative from Hunky Dory onwards never being afraid to change persona and style. A class act, Ziggy.

First artist to ever sell his future income to investors in the form of a bond. In 1997 he raised £35 million on Wall Street with his "Bowie or Pullman Bonds" as they became known.

I was wondering if anyone would mention this. Really interesting.

Good FT article this morning about it too actually for anyone who's interested. (Hopefully the link works).

Why would you bring any negative comment about Bowie to this thread on a day like today?? Do you think anyone in the whole world gives a toss that you didn't rate him as an actor? He was a musician first and foremost and not only a musician he was a great one and he achieved greatness when British music was great.

Their is simply no need for any negativity when speaking about one of the greatest solo artist' this country has ever produced, if not the greatest.

No need what so ever.

"Great voice and song writer"

Eh?

Heartbreaking we have lost one of the greats, my boyhood hero and stayed with me until adulthood and will till I die.
Always a musician who broke boundaries first and foremost , he always fancied himself as a actor and was half decent but never a De Niro. The parts he undertook we never mainstream so would never realy be taken with any seriousness.
Agree let's look at the positives...

Negatives aren't allowed. Ian said so.
