David Bowie RIP

Bit gutted today, I was listening to some Bowie tunes at the weekend, a massive talent gone, a fine actor also, the hunger is still one of my favorite films.

RIP
Did you think he was a good actor?

Great voice and song writer; as an actor though that old saying holds true about having the same impact as throwing a wooden chair across the stage. Completely woeful for me.

They shouldn't allow Cameron to pay tribute to other people. It devalues them immediately.

You get the feeling too that he'd never have piped up about Bowie before he died because Bowie would have distanced himself from him and his politics. Pure opportunism.

Could say the same about you to be fair.

But on a serious point, Bowie didn't flaunt his personal views on politics (apart from when he called for Fascism...) so it doesn't really seem fitting to speculate just to make personal jibes.

He was unique character, whether he could actually act or not I'm not sure, but his uniqueness made him suitable for certain roles, such as in the man who fell to earth

Can't think of many people who were world class musicians and world class actors.

I'd settle for being a world class plumber or IT security analyst to be honest.

My point was: imagine you were a genius in the arts and built that legendary status up over your lifetime...when you shuffled off this mortal coil would you want some fat faced Bullingdon Boy gegging in on your death for a cheap PR boost thus demeaning your lifetime's achievement?

Saw him at Glastonbury and he was absolutely ace. Was suffering with a bad throat, so just let us sing the obvious bits. One of my favourite music performances out of literally thousands that I have been to.

Aye, he was a poor actor. Just did it for the laughs I think. I would, if I were in his position.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust changed my life. I have listened to that album more so than any other and its not even close. An absolute legend, and almost didn't even seem human. Gutted, don't think a celebrity death has ever hit me like this.

Who really cares? For all you know Bowie may have taken pleasure in the PM of the day expressing his sadness - and ultimatley Cameron has as much right as you, me or anyone else to comment on it. I mean, should we start having a go at Corbyn too for passing comment?

It all comes across a bit desperate, to be honest.

Why would you bring any negative comment about Bowie to this thread on a day like today?? Do you think anyone in the whole world gives a toss that you didn't rate him as an actor? He was a musician first and foremost and not only a musician he was a great one and he achieved greatness when British music was great.

Their is simply no need for any negativity when speaking about one of the greatest solo artist' this country has ever produced, if not the greatest.

No need what so ever.

I'm not one to react to "celeb" deaths, but this one is rough.

I've said on the forum many times that Bowie was and is a huge influence on my musical taste. Like some others, I spent Friday listening to his new album and talking to a friend about how good the closing track was.

Now that closing track will always stick with me.
