I trust Moyes to know what hes doing regarding bringing players in,I know hes had some flops but when he spends small amounts he has a knack of picking up good players

Anyway lets give the lad a chance if he signs rather than dismiss him as a faliure before hes kicked a ball

He could be f*cking Zinedine Zidane and I still wouldn't understand the logic behind needing a striker and covering centre back but signing a centre midfielder.

It might be that Gibson is available now and Moyes can't find a suitable striker or centre half at the moment? There are another three weeks to conclude business.

Or am I being stupid here. There aren't a plethora of quality footballers all suddenly available for £2/3 million that I'm not aware of are there? If so then why don't we sign those ones FFS?

I wish some people here would be patient or try and think logically before moaning about everything that goes on.

I hope you are right about this but my question is how? What does he add that is different to what we already have in that position, he doesn't score many goals, he doesn't have many assists, the defensive side of our game is not the problem.

When he was younger coming through the ranks at utd, he was highly thought of and plenty was expected of him. Injuries slowed down his progress and being at a club where you had to take your chances when they came, his career has stalled a bit. Lets be honest if he had fulfilled his potential we wouldnt be getting him. Lets not forget the circumstances in which we got arteta, pienarr, lescott and others, and they went on to prosper. I think gibson just needs the chance to get his confidence back and show the player he could be.

That may well be the case. But I highly, highly doubt we'll have anything above £4m to spend at most, so spending £2m or £3m on someone who will add very little to the squad, both creatively and defensively, and will probably sit on the bench behind Rodwell, Fellaini and Osman, as well as taking up time Ross Barkley could be playing seems ridiculous.

I've thought logically for long enough about this, and my opinion hasn't changed once since my original reaction.

Don't be pushing the price up now. It looks like £1m + add-ons.

Have you thought about the fact Rodwell might be leaving?

Agree with Azurri.

Even if we sign Perbet for 1m, its still wasted money. I can't find any logic to this other than his age, which could mean its the last centre mid we plan to sign in the next five years.

He is just the wrong type of player we need. We honestly would do better signing Titus Bramble than Gibson, as we need a centre half. And Bramble is the worst Premier League footballer of all time, except Ali Dia.

Baffling.

Its all very well and good snapping him up now incase someone else does, but if we are spending a decent amount of whatever meagre budget we do have on him it could come back to haunt us if that player we need more urgently becomes available but we are £2million short.

I'm on the fence really on this guy, i think he's a bit **** and really wish we could get in a better standard of player but Moyes has pulled some crackers out of the hat before and Gibson must have soemething about him so could prove a shrewd move.

Or a complete waste of money.

Do we know how likely this deal actually is to go through, though?

Personally, I think Gibson could be a decent buy if we let another centre mid go this month (probably Rodders) so long as we get some value (by which I mean pay less than £2m), but I'm not really going to waste brain processing power thinking any more about it until it actually happens.

Well Sir Alex brought Scholes out of retirement instead of playing Gibson, Think thats a sign we should keep clear.

I have no idea why we are trying to sign a CM though, it could be signal someones leaving..
