10 goals in 60 appearences, 2 goals in the CL, one against Bayern. He's cheap and young. Sounds like the type of player who could come here and improve.

We can only afford players who struggle at their old clubs - see Royston.

Absolutely this, forget about the transfer fee, he'll be on 35-40K a week, that's £2M a year that we could invest in 2 or 3 young prospects. It would be different if he was a guaranteed starter, but my Man U season ticket holding mates are ripping the P out of me mercilessly for this, they think he is god awful.

With respect they probably did the same when pointer joined and he has been great value.

Isn't really what we need as usual. The fee is about right tho, he'd go for something like that to any other club.

He's scored seven goals in professional football in his entire career! Goals is the last reason we should sign this guy. Bily scores the odd screamer doesn't mean he's going to save our season.

Well i think he would be a good player for us, at least we wont have to see heitinga and neville in the midfield.

I really have to laugh at some people on here. Winge and moan about signing nobody then winge and moan when it looks like we are signing somebody. Who exactly did yous expect us to be in for, we are hardly attractive or have the money to lure other clubs top players.

He will improve our midfield as it will be an end to the neville/heitinga/cahill,s playing in the center with felli. Rodwells injury record isnt great either so we cant rely on him. Gibson has been schooled well at utd. He will be good at keeping possesion, has good long range passing and has some shot on him.

This fella is young and has something to prove. He has to impress to make sure he,s in our euro 2012 squad. Lets give him a chance.

If he can help steady the midfield then I'm alright with it. Too much of our play is breaking down there, in all sorts of different ways.

Our problem in midfield is creativity and this guy won't make any difference to that. I hope (and pray) that I'm wrong but for me this is a waste of incredibly limited resources.

I hope you are right about this but my question is how? What does he add that is different to what we already have in that position, he doesn't score many goals, he doesn't have many assists, the defensive side of our game is not the problem.

I dont think its worth worrying about this signing tbh it will be what it is and in no way will he make it worse based on our current football style. (That said I dont rate him other than he has a shot which is pretty laughable) My real concern is that we need real firepower like never before and I simply dont have faith whatsoever that DM has the ability let alone finance to purchase what we need. I have never been so deflated ever in 37 years watching everton, we somehow need 5-6 wins to hopefully stay up could I truly see us doing that my heart says no my head yes. This is the lowest we have ever been based on the bleak future ahead, our finances must be hugely more than the reported 45-50 million or how else have we been got to this stage with a debt that never goes down. Questions will one day be asked and answers one day will be forth coming i have my suspisions as we all do and i dont think BK will come out of this with any credibility whatsoever. I hate all this, it is terrible and I actually hate having to watch the club its not even sport anymore. All of our players are millionaires which makes the whole thing so pathetic. I sometimes wonder what the point is of us even exisiting anymore, the club as it was has been destroyed and so has my patience.

The midfield that had Gravesen and Carsley in it was hardly built on creativity but it still had something sorely lacking in this one...coherence. We lump it up so much because play comes to a f*ckin standstill if we try and play it through the middle and we'd be getting absolutely destroyed if it wasn't for the one man wrecking crew that is Felli. I think he'll slot in beside him fairly well, if he comes.

He could be f*cking Zinedine Zidane and I still wouldn't understand the logic behind needing a striker and covering centre back but signing a centre midfielder.
