Dark times lads, what now?

I do think things will improve in the new year either way, but by christ they aren't making it easy to remain positive.

Seriously, what's next for us? I can't see past some proven tinker man a'la Allardyce taking over now.

If we get relegated, we're done for years.

We would never do what Newcastle did and bounce straight back up. We’d be the next Leeds for the foreseeable future. Literally everyone would say ‘remember when Everton forked out £200m in one year and went down.

We need to stop the rot

We are playing pool with a rope up front, and our defence is as solid as a chocolate kettle, we’re totally totally screwed.

Allardyce and Benteke will save us all.

I'm waiting for the "would you accept one season in the championship to get rid of Kenwright ? " thread.

Exactly I mean look at Sunderland. Relegated last season and now second bottom. No guarantee we would come straight back up. I can’t believe I’m talking about relegation ha!

What is happeneing here is similar to what happened to relegated Villa.

The first teamers were past the sell by dates and they had to fill loads of gaps with kids due to the inability of first teamers.
Kids who were not ready.

It is not too late of course. We have more time, money and a transfer window to get some quality and balance.
If we were in February with this lot we are down.
Not a bedwetter, knee jerker, that is just how it is.

With respect that's madness. The problem isn't that the player we have are rubbish as arguably a worse squad than this coasted to 7th last year. The problem is that we've signed more players than any other team in the league; regularly field at least 5/6 new signings each week; in a lineup that is constantly changing; and the poor results have dented their confidence.

Signing a bunch of new players would just make it worse imo. The team aren't a team at the moment because none of them know how the other plays. This was compounded by Koeman playing a different lineup every game, and often a different formation. The players need some consistency, both of selection and tactics.

Do that and they will improve, but it will take time. I'm almost inclined to write this season off and consider a success as bedding in a shed load of new signings, and keeping us up.
I'll settle for that.

With a hint of arrogance, and perhaps because we have ridden out two final day doomsday scenarios, I cling to the belief that we will get it sorted. Somehow at least.
Looking glum but with so many points left to play for, we have got to believe we can pull out of this nose dive.
