Yates can deffo win this, he limited his losses in first TT, and smokes Dumoulin on the climbs, he will annihilate him on Zoncolan.

Great to see Yates not only challenging for titles but winning stages while doing so, not just hiding behind his teammates hard work.

Froome continues to fade while under new levels of scrutiny, hmmm

To be fair to Froome, he's looked less and less dominant on climbs for a few years now. Most of his last few wins have been achieved via the time trials and even unusual attacks in crosswinds or on descents. Indeed, he's become almost renowned for getting dropped on climbs and clawing his way back, which is far from the dominant force he used to be.

It's been a cracking race though thus far, which to be fair, the Giro nearly always is. The best GT by far imo.

13 minutes and counting for Chaves. No one really attacked Yates as yet, although Sky have Henao a short bit up the road. He only has a few domestiques with him so there may be some action towards the end.

The Giro is great for turning what should be routine stages into something interesting.

another stage win for yates, if he wins the thing he's done it the right way, thrilling stuff as the froome-bot malfunctions

Wasn't sure if I would enjoy the giro without Nibali, but it's been tremendous so far

48 seconds enough against dumoulin in the time trial?

No, I don't think so, but you've got two enormous stages over the Zoncolan and then over Sestriere. If he can maintain his form then Yates can put good time into Dumoulin in those stages. It's fascinatingly poised, and such is the final week that I don't think it's a 2 horse race either. Plenty of time for a bolter. Remember that when Nibali last won it, he was about as far back as Froome is now with a few days to go. In the Giro the unexpected often happens.
