I'm not annoyed...i'm amazed.

Firstly, I didnt realise an Indian company owned Jaguar. Secondly, I didnt realise that they had been nosediving in sales for 5 years.

The main one would be the dramatic branding change which is a totally different path to their customer base & no apparent benefit to any sales growth.

They must have done research but it doesnt appear so based on the backlash.

Anyone looking at this from a business persepective and general interest point may care which is why i asked.
Their customer base aren't buying cars as your post demonstrates so why would you continue to appeal to it?

You would still need a baseline of sales. I think if it was me i'd have taken an option that built on the existing customer base while improving the product.

A company literally removing their customers to find a different type of customer is a massive risk. Id love to see their research into how this strategy will generate more revenue.

As far as im aware, only a limited amount of people buy electric vehicles. To focus solely on that and, based on their advertising, focus on an LGBT minority is bewildering when selling cars.

Are a minority group going to all buy electric £100k Jaguars now? Seems really unlikely.

Indian ownership seems misguided.

What sort of fool doesn't buy a car because of an advert.....?!

I'm surprised TVR seemed to go into a death spiral. They will probably be the competition of Jaguar.

I would expect if theres significant fanfare, TVR to do significantly better.

TVR is a phoenix, it's been down and out so many times only to be resurrected. Actual main line production for market appears to have stopped in the UK around 2007, with some minor engine works/production carrying on slightly after. Sold numerous times since the (those) Smolensky days.

For someone that didn't know Jaguar had been acquired by an Indian conglomerate I am not shocked at your failed grasp at the actual history of TVR either.

I wonder if you can see why 2007/2008 might have been a bit of a difficulty for high power large engined luxury(ish) sports cars that are very thirsty and prone to chassis rot.

Didn't like Evans and Le blanc either. And what they let Flintoff drive into a world of pain and suffering for after they'd ploughed a field with Hammonds head I'll never know. Don't miss it or the tory effusement spouted by any of em. Soft power my rear end!

I'm a bit confused... which bit of the advert is supposed to reflect a focus on an LGBT minority? They all look like they've stepped off one of those 'haute couture' catwalks for impractical clothing. Or is this like the England shirt thing, weirdos online see a couple of bold colours together and assume it's one of the pride flag variants?

I didn't see it as LGBT, I saw it as brash and gaudy, which is not something you would traditionally expect of Jaguar.

It needed (needs) an imagine change and crucially, now everyone is talking about Jaguar, without actually having seen the car.

People are just mad for the sake of being mad.

It's certainly a bold move, only time will tell whether it is a stroke of genius or a catastrophic miscalculation.

With a lot of countries phasing out ICE cars, I don't think it is valid to say there is a limited amount of customers, even now they are a large proportion of car sales in most countries, and it has been heading that way for a long time. Not sure how you managed to miss that 🤷‍♂️

They’ve been owned by Tata since 2008 and have released some quite successful and good cars since then. The F-Type is a brilliant car.

It’s weird that you are so bothered by a company you clearly have no idea about and have only been interested in since you read a Daily Mail article about an advert they released last week.

I have a cousin into his Jags, driven nothing but for at least a decade, and he's finally got back to me with his thoughts on it. He was well aware of the company's financial direction of travel (I wasn't) and thinks it might a "masterstoke".

I wouldn't say that myself, 'massive gamble' is a far more accurate term (and the new font is horrendous), but people are right when they say it's caused a stir and certainly ticked the main box for an advert.

Until we see the car and the specs it’s impossible to know. They are taking a big risk, especially at the price point that has been rumoured.

What they have achieved is a lot of people talking about the brand and when the first car is launched on December 2nd there will be a hell of a lot of eyes on it. Hope they pull it off but let’s wait and see.
