2017/18 Cuco Martina

If Kenny is not trusted because he is a bit suspect at defending, what's the punt on having Martina? Kenny is like a Coleman clone, no? Great are going forward, bit suspect defending?

Martina is not a long term solution, why not play Kenny when doing 3 at the back as it mitigates the defensive duties of the RB

Bizarre selection also not having him on the bench.

I'm starting to wonder whats gone on here....

Martina we knew would be below average....I just don't get it

Thought he looked poor, but could have been down to a bit of nerves so he will get another chance before I make my mind up on him as a squad player.

However, having watched Kenny a lot more... Kenny has to play until Coleman is back. And maybe even beyond.

You obviously weren't at the game today.

To call Cuco Martina 'below average' is not at all how he performed. At all.

He's an excellent crosser of the ball. Developing all the time as well.

Seems to be mixed opinions on that mate. I thought Cuco was below average defensively. He can cross, for sure, but I dread the inevitable pantsing he gets against better wingers. To your point, I watched the game on tv.

This exactly is my view on him. He also wont suddenly improve...

Just don't think cuco can defend, he's not too bad going forward but seems a disaster waiting to happen defensively. Shame he's blocking kenny getting deserved game time. Hopefully it's not long before ronkoe sees the light and gives the boy John joe his chance, it took him a while to give Davies his chance last season and that worked out well so you'd think he'd learn to trust the youth sooner

In the three games I've seen him play he's getting better and sharper.

Only today did I see what a good crosser of the ball he is. Whipped some excellent crosses in. Rooney kept giving it to him for a reason.

...it would be good to see him get behind the opposition defence, though. That's the position where crosses can really hurt. He gets it and delivers which is good but it's also safe. The top RBs go beyond their opposite number.

How would you rate him other than his crossing?

But that's my point. KENNY is an excellent crosser of the ball. One has a chance to be more than the other. Martina is what he is.

Stop saying "trust the youth." It's quite clear Koeman trusts young players when they show what he wants them to.
