Confirmed Signing Cuco Martina

Why are you asking? You have obviously seen enough of him to know that he is going to "cost us again and again"

I'm amazed that so many posters have watched enough of Cuco Martina to dismiss him as crap. Are people honestly saying that they have watched him over a period of time and seen enough of him to justify that opinion ?
I'll be honest, I had never heard of him and I don't recall ever watching him once, let alone on enough occasions to form such a strong opinion.
I would be surprised if you have seen more of him than Koeman, who obviously feels that he is worthy of a place in the squad.

Said it numerous times and never been wrong. I wish I would be but this will be another failure. If you rate him you probably don't watch football

I don't rate him mate (read the post you replied to) and I do watch football yes, mainly Everton as it happens.
Obviously I don't watch as much football as you do, because you must have seen quite a bit of Martina in order to make an informed opinion.
So tell us, just how many times have you watched him play? :coffee:

If you don't rate him why are you getting so upset?

I think this is the issue people have with this signing, Kev.

Indeed no one has seen him play very much......that is because he finished up last season third choice right back at Southampton and they did not offer him a renewed contract.

And it ain't like he is a young lad....he is 27 years of age and has made twenty four appearances over the past two seasons.

Like you I had never heard of him before this saga started but based on his age and his career over two years at Saints I am willing to bet we have young players on the books already whom will do a better job during Seamus's absence.

I'm sure you're right about the reasons that people are dismissing him as not good enough. Puel obviously didn't rate him at Southampton. Koeman must think he can do the job though.
As previously stated, I haven't a clue about him and he may well be garbage, but I'll make my mind up after I've had a chance to see him. Can't understand people writing him off before they see him. Presumably Koeman has more insight into the merits of Martina and of the youngsters on our books. It may well be that he's been brought in purely to provide competition for the younger players.

If he comes in as Kennys backup on a free to start the season and then becomes third choice/spot player when Coleman returns, who honestly cares? It makes more sense than spending real money on someone who won't ever get minutes in a healthy squad. The only thing that makes more sense would be finding someone cheapish who can cover both left and right back up duties. I'd have suggested my customary American Fabian Johnson had he not signed an extension with Gladbach. Anyways, welcome Cuco if he signs. Can't believe anyone is arsed either way.
