Haha, no I don't know anything about the inner workings at City, the same as I don't know anything about the inner workings at Everton.
However, I do know the Seamus' leg has been broken for about 2 months now, and that they have probably been looking at potential replacements for a while. The same way city have been looking at transfers for a while.
My thinking is that instead of going for a genuinely good player to compete with Coleman for the right back spot (an issue for 5+ years), we appear to be going for a cheap stop-gap who will offer next to nothing, and that this will be make right back a weak spot in the team until Seamus comes back in December/January. Even when he does come back Seamus (who is capable of being brilliant) will be able to throw in the odd horse-s--t performance because he knows the shirt is his no matter what he does. We have had and will continue to lack any viable replacements.
If I'm feeling optimistic I could be thinking the Koeman has Kenny in mind for right back next season and Martina will just be back up. However, we already know Holgate can put in a solid performance at rb, admittedly without offering anything going forward.
This whole thing just smells of everton penny pinching again. What's the point of signing a player if you know what they offer isn't good enough. This was always my main problem with giving Hibbert new contracts. We knew he wasn't up to it, and the hope was we would never have to use him. He offered no competition to Seamus, and when we were forced into playing him he let us down. What's the point? Just play a promising youngster, or pay a little extra and buy someone who can genuinely compete. This is just a useless no-mans land of nothingness.
In any case you would have thought that the city transfer would have been far more compilacated and take more time given the money involved? Are you a relative of Koeman/Bill? Perhaps you can tell me why I'm wrong.
