I bet that's utterly grim.

I think timing has a lot to do with it.

If we made several big name signings when the window opens which had us all relishing the prospect of the new season then fine, moving to bring in this Coco fellow or someone like him would barely raise an eyebrow.

As it happens the window has not even opened yet and he has joined a list of possible transfer targets which sees Troy Deeney and Harry Maguire near the top of the shopping list.

One signing which was setting pulses racing, Sanchez from Malaga, seems to be heading nowhere now Athletico have entered the fray.

Add to that our top scorer and one of our Crown Jewels are both looking like moving on and one can easily see why people are are starting to get a bit nervous about what is going to happen over the summer.

Appears to have been well liked by a majority of Saints fans

  • I was lucky enough to meet Cuco and cannot speak highly enough of him as a person. He's not your usual egotistical footballer, not many of our guys are (most have left now). He talked about training, saying mane, long and VVD were nightmares to play against and were the fastest players at the club over 100m, after him! He absolutely loves playing for his country and said the locations of most of their games are unreal paradise settings but very hot to play football in. Of course we talked a little about his goal... It was his favourite moment in football and talked about never forgetting how all of the fans stood up and clapped him when he took a throw in just after he had scored. He's a big fan of basketball (him and tadic are basically pros) breakdancing and fifa (I asked him if he would try to recreate the goal at home and shoot every time the ball was 35 yards out) he was literally in stitches for most of our conversation (a few red wines were had). He also said that most of the plays of his goal on youtube were him! I'll be sad to see him go. Football needs more Martinas and i hope he's replaced in our dressing room.
  • Nice to read. I like him and would be sorry to lose him. He plays football with a smile, metaphorically at least.
  • Nice story. He does come across as a well grounded lad, just keeps his head down and has done/does a job for us.
  • Bit of shame for him to go as he is one of those players you can't help but like. Personally I thought he offered more than Cedric especially bombing down the wing, and more often than not pinging in a good cross first time rather than putting on the brakes, then fanny about trying to cut in then passing it backwards. Plus at 28 still not up himself and willing to take instruction
  • Would be sad to see him go. But, one of those who I would absolutely wish all the best.
  • Shame. Another of the team that went on that great run gone. Thought he was pretty decent and really don't rate Cedric but if Puel wasn't going to give him a chance then it's no real loss.
  • As Duncan says Martina also plays centre half. If Fonte is leaving he would have expected been a good player to still have around. Really gutted that Martina is leaving. Really want to wish him all the best for the future.
  • He looked a more promising player than Cedric, and perfroned welll. Once he gets fully up to speed he could be seen as a loss
  • Im surprised that this is so low key with the fans. He looked a much more promising player than Cedric, and performed well. Once he gets fully up to speed he could be seen as a loss

Pretty sure it isn't, otherwise it's very strange no one ever buys a player before July 1st

From Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_window

"Although, in England, the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, transfers between clubs in the same league can take place as soon as the last competitive fixtures for the season have been played. However, many transfers will not be completed until 1 July because many players' contracts expire on 30 June. International transfers cannot be made until the window has opened on 1 July."

I can't believe that there's 18 pages in a little over 4 hrs
And over what ??
A newspaper , yes a newspaper , has reported that we are SUPPOSEDLY interested in signing Cucina
He will be a free transfer who until Christmas will be second or third choice RB and when Coleman is back he won't even get the bench.
He would be a free signing on low wages and a squad filler.
Some to go on the bench in an EL game if Kenny got injured
The fume is amazing
And that's assuming the report is not total rubbish
