No doubt Palace will try to nullify James Rodriguez and stifle his creativity. I just hope they don't do a hatchet job on the guy. There's a bit of concern about Jordan Pickfords' confidence going into this one, but with a bit of luck he's used up his errors for this month and he'll have a decent game.

Fifty years ago (Saturday 26-Sept-1970 the 1970/71 season) we played Palace at Goodison and won 3-1 with goals from Harvey, Morrissey, and Royle; finishing the season in 14th place. Having won the First Division the previous season it was the start of a decade that promised Evertonians far more than it delivered. Although this one is at their place, I think I'll go with the same scoreline but hope we have a better season, and decade, than we did back then.

I think this game is massive and will certainly have a big impact on where we will be come the end of the season. We win and the team will really start to believe.
Lose then it is a reality check on our weakness
