Current Affairs Critically ill man is former Russian spy

1st point - the 'paste' theory given forth by the government - also included that the agent would be greatly 'watered' down by engineering it to be used in such a application - ocpw stated categorically that the agent was a very pure form from their samples - including bio samples from the patients. As for the gloves idea - the temperature was 9c that day in Salisbury looking at met reports, the temperature in Moscow the preceeding week when his daughter was there was around -13c - and covered i snow (i was there :) ) pretty sure knowing russian woman she was thinking it was a summers day at those temperatures mate - never known a Russian man or woman to go around wearing gloves at 9c lol, also when leaving the house why on earth did both of them make sure to get a good grip on the poisoned door-handle, bit unusually - she checked it to just make sure her dad had done it properly?

2nd point - doesn't tally with complete recoveries for all 3 people involved and treated mate, the entire sequence of walking around going for a beer and a meal then leaving sitting on a bench and collapsing, this is one weird nerve agent that acts many hours after the contact with it, and doesn't seemingly effect the appetite or desire for a bevvie isn't it?
Also why given all the above you stated did a presumably very healthy police sergeant become affected far quicker than either Russian did (given one was 66yo and had imbibed alcohol also, the initial claim was because he gave first aid to them, this was later changed to he was poisoned retracing there steps at their house, a story which they changed how he was poisoned due to the fact not a single paramedic who would have had closer contact with the patients had the remotest problem post the event, also why given by the time he went to their house, the doctors etc where already seemingly treating the attack as a possible chemical attack did the good old bobby seemingly decide that his regulation uniform was protection enough and go around touching everything just to prove it?

IS the Russian account true - almost certainly not, is the British account an account that has had about 10 differing things at each stage revealed as 'facts' - yup - and every few days the story changed, the foreign secretary and PM both showed to have lied - ofc this was portrayed in the media by and large as a 'honest' misunderstanding by good old Boris.

Can tell you 100% if this situation was reversed and it was a British spy poisoned allegedly by the British and the Russians had come out with the series of statements about what happened, the lies and misinformation that has been in this case - then the media would have been absolutely using it as proof the entire thing was either fabricated/that they had some or all culpability - or that the investigation was utterly inept.

Reported, not to the mods......

I doubt we will ever know the full facts surrounding this case and where and how exactly the agent was delivered and applied. Both Russian and British fake news propaganda teams are very busy pumping out half-truths, lies and innuendo’s our media and political chimps are just confusing things even more.

As for the effects of the nerve agent on the Skripals v the police officer do we in fact know how long it took the officer to become ill?

Maybe the agent was applied in more than one place within the Skripals home and maybe the Skripals brushed or lightly touched an infected point whilst the plod actually made solid physical contact with an item daubed with the agent and therefore the effect was more marked in his case?

It’s all supposition of course we’ll never know the full truth. The only things we do know due to the OPCW is that the Skripals were poisoned by a rare nerve agent, by who and how still in my mind remains a mystery but whoever did this messed up and now there are 2 live witnesses to the crime.

Indeed.....

Why are you so convinced that the U.K. and the OPCW must be telling lies. Why are you so ready to discredit the U.K. and by extension the USA the EU and various other sensible countries. Why do you not even consider that maybe, just maybe, it is true that Russia wanted to kill a Russian national who betrayed his country. If the U.K. was accused of killing a U.K. national living in Russia who had betrayed the U.K., I would perhaps believe it, yet somehow you cannot comprehend a gangster state like Russia doing so......

Never said once the ocpw are telling lies, as for why I'm convinced the British government are, errm, because it's been proven they have without any question mate, Johnson stated he was told by Portadown it was the Russians that did it, they in their statement refuted this claim and showed the foreign secretary and by proxy the government to have outright lies about information they had.

Because the man was regarded as such a danger to Russia they had to kill him, despite the fact he only received a measly 13 year sentence by them, survived all the way through his arrest, trial, and then half his sentence in a russian prison as a known traitor, deemed that much a threat they decided to not kill him at any stage which could and would have gone completely unnoticed if they had done so, but instead wait till he's living in Britain after they allowed him to be part of a prisoner exchange, then allow him to live for half a dozen years, before the red peril finally decide to deliver the death sentence...

It's absolutely propostorous, and if in a movie or novel would be ridiculed as unbelievable and ridiculous mate, but hey keep in believing.

Love the sensible countries thing btw, same ones who think bombing empty buildings deters chemical attacks.

So the U.K. are telling lies but the OPCW aren’t. Yet they both agree.....ok......

The agreement was about the substance used mate, the opcw definitely didn't agree with the British governments assertion they knew it was Russia that did it, neither did they agree about it being a watered down paste on a doornob, feel free to show me where they did though.

Question you won't answer, did the UK lie about the chemical agent being 100% of russian manufacture? As per the foreign secretary quoting Portadown?

I think you may have just answered your own question. Russia may have always intended to kill Skripal, however lets suppose they kept him alive as a potential asset, and then when the opportunity arose they used him as a bargaining chip in a spy swap exchange program that saw Russia swap him for ten of their own intelligence officers. Then years later just when Skripal's and the UK Govt guard is down they come back for revenge (a revenge that was always planned).

In this scenario its definately a win-win for Russia as they get their assets back and they punish Skripal for being a traitor. Check mate.

It sets the precedent for reneging on swap deals though, and they got a fairly good deal, prima facie, with 8 or 9 thrown in for free.

This is the crux of the matter though mate, the spy/sleeper agent exchange which included Skirpal was a deal basically between the US and Russia - all the people (sleeper agents as they where called) that Russia got back where from the US, the two most serious double agents that Russia gave - both where wanted by the US - both where on longer jail sentences than Skirpal btw and the 4th was an unusual inclusion as he wasn't even in jail for spying for the US/UK but for other crimes.

AT best Skirpal seems to be a pat on the head from the US to us as an inclusion - no more - no less, the British government deemed him under that little threat that he continued to live under his old identity as well - which you must admit seems exceptionally odd.

Again i will point out it simply doesn't make sense in any shape or form, the timing of the matter is again all wrong, we are dealing with Putin, who like or loathe him, has to be seen as a serious political figure, not a stupid man by a long shot, and i would say much more 'capable' if that is the correct word than either Trump or May. So why on earth would he wait for years, then sanction a assassination at this current time, the timing alone of it, with an election and an upcoming world cup a matter of days and several months away, shouts out utter incompetence - which i would say he never has been guilty of.

The line trotted out is 'to send a signal' to all those who may think of betraying him etc etc etc. Poppycock frankly, what a signal it is to send out - IF you betray us, we will give you a fair trial - a moderate 13 year sentence - of which you are gonna only serve 7-8 years of it, and we are willing to exchange you during that sentence after about 4 years - you can then go live in peace for 7 years until your late 60's, and then we will bungle a bizarre assassination attempt on you, hardly the stuff to make someone quake in their boots is it?

Wouldn't a 'bigger' signal be to have simply jailed him and during the jail time he has his throat cut, that would IMO anyway send a much much clearer message about what happens to traitors don't you think?

It sets the precedent for reneging on swap deals though, and they got a fairly good deal, prima facie, with 8 or 9 thrown in for free.

Again which points to 'why'

Why do something that will jeopardise future deals
Why do something at this juncture - the timing simply stank in terms of Russia's 'PR'
Why target this particular man
Why do it in such a half arsed manner which borders on being the most bungled assassination since the exploding Castro cigar one

and two who's
Who benefits most from what has happoend
who has benefited least

People seem to buy the general media/politico line about it being a long held revenge etc, from what 'limited' things i know, i think in the intelligence community it is all seen as part of the game, we are doing it, they are doing it, and everyone else is too, like any game they have rules and by and large all of the major countries kind of stick to those rules, seems a very very odd case to break it over...

Just in case Hullefc missed this.......

A nerve agent was used to poison a Russian former spy and his daughter, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said, as its inquiry backed the U.K. on the toxin’s identity.
Results of the OPCW’s analysis “confirm the findings of the United Kingdom relating to the identity of the toxic chemical that was used in Salisbury,” the organization said in a statement on Thursday.......

That response was due to this.

“Is that the Novichok, the most deadliest nerve agent known to man with 'no known antidote' (Porton Down scientist), and the three survived?

The Porton Down expert said 'can't trace it to Russia'. I bet they can't.

Remember the consultant at Salisbury hospital's letter to the Times, '“Sir, Further to your report (“Poison Exposure Leaves Almost 40 Needing Treatment”, Mar 14), may I clarify that no patients have experienced symptoms of nerve-agent poisoning in Salisbury and there have only ever been three patients with significant poisoning........"

I have responded to this, as I am now able to get to my computer after returning from taking the people I support on holiday.

Meanwhile, this Monday 16th April 2018, the only country that has stated it has Novichok is the UK.

Where are the words ‘Novichok’ or newcomer is that summary point? This may be in the full report sent to the different countries.

Where are the words nerve agent?

The words nerve agent appears in the first summary point but as ‘allegedly’.

All the OPCW confirmed was that Porton Down’s claim that it was a ‘toxic chemical – an alleged nerve agent’.

Porton Down claimed the nerve agent was a ‘Novichok’ but cannot be traced to Russia. I bet they can’t because the OPCW said that Russia got rid of all chemical weapons in October 2017. This was backed up by Peter Wilson UK Ambassador to the Netherlands and the UK’s OPCW representative.

“In other positive developments, the successful completion of the verified destruction of the Russian Federation’s declared chemical weapons stockpile underscores the global commitment to rid the world of chemical weapons. The UK was pleased to contribute funding and expertise to support Russia’s work. We also welcome the progress made by the Iraqi authorities to destroy the final remnants of Saddam Hussein’s era chemical weapon stockpile at the Al Muthana complex”. Peter Wilson.

‘The successful completion of the verified destruction of the Russian Federation declared chemical weapons stockpile’. Said Peter Wilson.

According to the OPCW and backed up by Peter Wilson the Russia Federation doesn’t have chemical weapons. But May and Johnson say they have ‘military grade nerve agent’ . May and Johnson are obviously questioning the competency and credibility of the OPCW.

Then the Jackanory shifted from administered on the bench, to the pub to the restaurant, from the car to finally and ‘without doubt the front door handle’. And this has been backed up by Mark Sedwell and Laurie Bristow -British Ambassador to Russia. Incredibly even Peter Wilson. is now claiming that not only he was duped by the Russian Federation for 10 long years but the OPCW was as well.

Laurie Bristow claimed that, ‘The knowledge that Russia has produced this agent within the last 10 years and remains capable of doing so’. And the UK never informed the OPCW that Russia ‘has produced this agent within the last 10 years. And the UK never told Peter Wilson that this was the case and to raise this with the OPCW. When the OPCW was announcing to the world that the Russian Federation has got rid of its chemical weapons they never shouted from the rooftops ‘no they haven’t, you are all being taken for a ride’. But now they are saying that. The UK reprentative to the UN never told that body that, ‘The knowledge that Russia has produced this agent within the last 10 years and remains capable of doing so’. This revelation questions the credibility of the OPCW to fully investigate the whereabouts of chemical agent anywhere and in any country.

Laurie Bristow also claims that, This programme included investigation of ways of delivering nerve agents, including by application to door handles’. ‘High purity’ to a door handle. But May and Johnson said it was a ‘military grade’ nerve agent. Which means it would have to have been mixed with other substances to turn the purity into ‘weapons grade’ as well as adding things so that it would stick to the front door handle. The Russian manual is obviously very, very detailed. It will obviously tell would be appliers to ‘sneak up in the night, apply the substance to the front door handle and scarper very, very quickly’.

The OPCW arrived in the UK at the request of the UK authorities on 19th March. The front door of the was not taken away until 29th March. The substance would have to be applied on the night of the 2nd, the morning of the 3rd. And the story runs that they both touched the front door handle at 9.30 ish and 4 hours later the ‘deadliest nerve agent known to man without any known antidote’ took effect and they slumped on the bench. Obviously the detective sergeant would have had to have touched the front door at the same time due to time delay reaction. So anyone who touched the front door handle would have been affected by this ‘nerve agent’.
The OPCW arrived on the 19th March that is 17 days after the toxic chemical was applied to the door handle. It had no impurities said the OPCW. ’The front door of the Skripals house was never protected by the elements in all those 17 days. There was no two man tent over the front door to protect the door handle. In fact the two man tent was 10 yards or so away in the garden. In those 17 days it rained half the time, there would also be traces of pollen on the door handle as well as car exhaust fumes and any other things floating around in the air. But it was ‘almost complete absence of impurities’.

Professor Robert Stockman, of the University of Nottingham, said traces of nerve agents did not linger. He added: 'These agents react with water to degrade, including moisture in the air, and so in the UK they would have a very limited lifetime. This is presumably why the street in Salisbury was being hosed down as a precaution – it would effectively destroy the agent.'

But the OPCW were able to get a sample of a toxic chemical ‘almost complete absence of impurities’ after 17 days.

The only way it would be ‘pure’ is if it came straight from a laboratory. Not messed around with to make it a ‘weapons grade nerve agent’ The only way the OPCW could say that it was ‘almost complete absence of impurities’ was if they could test it against a similar toxic chemicals made in a lab.

“I have now been sent the vital information that in late 2016, Iranian scientists set out to study whether novichoks really could be produced from commercially available ingredients. Iran succeeded in synthesising a number of novichoks. Iran did this in full cooperation with the OPCW and immediately reported the results to the OPCW so they could be added to the chemical weapons database.

This makes complete nonsense of the Theresa May’s “of a type developed by Russia” line, used to parliament and the UN Security Council. This explains why Porton Down have refused to cave in to governmental pressure to say the nerve agent was Russian. If Iran can make a novichok, so can a significant number of states”. Craig Murray ex UK ambassador 17th March 2018.

But May and Johnson said only Russia could make it.

The sample the OPCW tested didn’t come from the Skripals front door and wasn't the thing that made them and the detective sergeant ill.

The most incredible thing about this ‘front door’ theory is that it was only the Skripals and the detective sergeant that got infected from touching the front door. ITV news showed people entering through the Skripals front door on the 6th March without any space suits on or gloves, and over a month later they have not taken ill.

We now know why May and Johnson had to frame Putin/the Kremlin so as to send their killing bombs to Syria.

Even now, even after the OPCW agreed with the U.K. your hatred of the U.K. will not allow you to admit that just maybe they were telling the truth.......

Read the post.

All the OPCW have 'agreed' with is that the sample they were given by Porton Down, which never came from the Skripals front door, was what Porton Down said it was. It could hardly saying anything else. Porton Down gives OPCW a sample it says is X, the OPCW test it and say, yes it is X. But that sample wasn't taken from the Skripals front door.

The OPCW haven't agreed with May and Johnson that it is a 'military grade nerve agent made in Russia and administered on the orders of Putin/the Kremlin'. Which is the UK's big Goebbels lie to justify bombing Syria without parliamentary approval.

I await the usual 'you hate the UK' jibe.
