..I understand he’s the first bowler to reach 50 Championship wickets this season.
Always thought he was unlucky with England given that he had a couple, knee & back, of injuries when he was starting to become established. It was also at a time when England were of the mind that all the bowlers needed to be able to bat so drafted in bowling all rounders rather than genuine swing/seem bowlers.

He's been a huge positive for Lancs this season. His attitude is great, whether its age or mentality, but he treats almost every ball with intensity and has a good plan for each batsman.

Lancs seriously need to go and find a quality batsman for the County Championship if they stay up. Almost the batting equivalent of Onions.

What's the point? If he's English he'll spend all season with England.

Plenty of batsmen that play in the County Championship score big runs but don't play for England. Pope, Hildreth, Ali, Mitchell, Abell, Vince, Burns.

The trick is signing players for positions where England are well stocked or won't budge in selection.

Yeah, I know. It just seems that Lancs and Yorks players seem to get picked more than other counties.

As expected an unchanged team, Moeen at 3, Root at 4.

The slight surprise is that contrary to earlier speculation in the papers, Jonny Bairstow is back behind the stumps now that his fracture has healed with Buttler playing as a specialist batsman at 6 or 7.

The Taunton pich reoort now apparently will be made over the next 5 days by Dean Cosker the cricket liaison officer, which possibly means they're making sure they cover themselves with Somerset likely to challenge anything detrimental to them.

I must admit I've only read of Somerset being punished if its found wanting although the rules apparently do state the away side get the points too.

Probably drag on forever now.
