Cricket

Class knock, well played, couldn't believe it was his first. If a player like him can reign it in, why can't the rest?
Indeed...test cricket is so different from ODIs and application is needed in such situations....Stokes has done the same. It may not be bish bash, but i find it totally absorbing,

Maiden ton in tests for buttler, him and stokes keeping in it

Kohli and Rahane had the sun out and pitch becalmed in their stand that set the impregnable position up, cloud returned for the second day and 16 wickets fell.

India batted brilliantly despite the conditions on day 3 even if England added to their dropped catches total making it 16 this series, a great help.

The sun's back and although only delaying the inevitable Buttler and Stokes have shown the backbone needed and put the rest to shame, although as I say far easier for batting now

Yeah the conditions have been perfect for the team batting first and we put them in

... Doh

Yes that's true its backfired in spectacular fashion, although tbf to Joe Root it was cloudy and overcast on Saturday morning, perfect bowling conditions, a fair call really - then the weather was transformed in the afternoon, and this against most forecasts too, sometimes bad calls can look that only with hindsight available.

Yeah I know, I just remembered the Tms team saying how they would have all batted because of the forecast, they were all a tad baffled.

I suppose if you see a wicket and overcast conditions likely to help your bowlers who have been right on top bowling the opposition out for around 100 in their last two innings, the temptation is to go for their weakest point again having confidence in your bowlers.

Michael Holding and David Lloyd thought England made the right call, I don't think at the time it was that surprising with the cloud overhead. Hindsight and the dramatic change in conditions show it now to be wrong but it wasn't that outlandish at the time.

Very surprised at the tms commentators couldn't see the reasoning, but those same experts were going apoplectic when England didnt declare on their way to a crushing victory in less than two and a half days, with more than a day to spare in the last one.
