I think it was more Jones going at a run a ball then deciding to swing wildly in the last over rather than giving David the strike back.

Those on here that wrote bairstow off should hang their heads in shame. All good players go through baron spells but his quality has shown through. Love watching him bat, and if he gets out for single figures playing an aggressive shot then so be it. Modern rest cricket isn't 2 runs an over any more.

BTW, remember the John Player League on Sundays (is that right?). 160 off 40 overs was amazing.

There's a difference between writing someone off and criticising someone who has an average hovering around 20 (which he had through 2019-21.

He also seems to struggle with game awareness - what to do when needing to, let's be honest, salvage an innings.

Its always struck me that the slower he scores the worse he gets. A strike rate of 40 and he struggles. Let him go at 55-70 in tests and he's capable of winning tests.

Perhaps the clarity from Stokes/McCullum and freedom to play normally has helped.
